Am I the only one who is a little tired of sportswriter cynicism?  All of the 2007 stories Dobrow mentioned were not sugar-coated when they came out.  The Hamilton story was a story at all only because of his past issues.  Ankiel's roid issue was vetted immediately. And the Rockies - well, their World Series collapse was out there for all to see.

I am not one to put my head in the sand when things go wrong. [Although if anyone did, it was the media for all those years when roids raged through MLB, blasting statistical barriers -- scarcely a discouraging word was heard from the media during all that time.]  But Dobrow is standing there with a bucket of cold water ready to douse the first sign of any story that might have the faintest hint of human interest.  Give it a break, Dobrow. You must live to suck lemons.

These writers get paid for this garbage? Has this tool even been to St. Petersburg where the Rays play? I guess he didn't know that young people do exist here. Do us a favor, write about what you know.

No, I'm tired of it, too.

But I'm even more tired of crappy, sarcastic writing, like "beautiful magical princess ponies."

He put that in the article. That phrase. What... the...

Totally agree...Who pee'd in Dobrow's cornflakes?
The fun of baseball IS the human interest stories..Maybe he's forgotten...The innocence is gone from pro sports, which makes it tough to wax romantic on flawed individuals and stories, but it's more a matter of looking at the glass half full than half empty..
