Let me start off my reply with a collective THANK YOU from Braves fans everywhere. Jair Jurrjens has been huge for the team thus far this season.
That being said, Your GM didn't overreact with this deal. You have what, at least last year, would be considered great young pitching. Justin Verlander, Nate Robertson, and Jeremy Bonderman have all severely under-performed this season. And Dontrelle Willis' injury was just freak.
Edgar Renteria should have been an All Star last year with Atlanta but there are just too many great SS in the NL East, much less the NL as a whole. He can still be a great hitter and will contribute to the Tigers efforts this season.
Flat out.........you need more consistent pitching!!! You better get your starters figured out. I don't know what the heck is wrong with Verlander but he may need to be checked out by doctors. His velocity is way down and he is getting hard every time out.
Hind sight is always 20/20, but the Tigers brass was trying to build a team to win NOW and Renteria fit better into that puzzle than Jurrjens. You can't fault them totally, thus far too many of your players are just simply underachieving. The good thing is that when they eventually do start to come around the Tigers, as a team, could really take off!!
