Who should bat leadoff for the Brewers?

'08:

Hart: .299 avg., .358 OBP

Kendall: .283 avg., .369 OBP

Cameron: .174 avg., .269 OBP

Weeks: .193 avg., .320 OBP

Here's how I look at the situation...

Rickie Weeks is this team's best option at leadoff.  Unfortunately, although does appear to be gettin' "locked in" at the plate and putting together much better AB's, he just isn't getting the job done there and may need a new assignment in this lineup.

Corey Hart would be a terrific guy at the top of the order but as proved again yesterday, he is the only guy that can really be trusted to be up after Braun and Fielder.  These two are starting to heat up (Braun may be there already) and Corey is an RBI machine with men on base.  Quite frankly, there just isn't anybody else on this roster that fits into the 5-hole like Corey Hart.  So I don't think he can be asked to leadoff.

Mike Cameron...God no.  He dazzled us with his hot first series but his fizzled since.  He does see a lot of pitches per AB and has the plate discipline and speed to be good leadoff guy, but he just simply strikes out way too much.  Before I get down on Cameron too much, because he had an extended offseason with the suspension and may take some time to get into a groove, but at least his K's are more tolerable than those of Bill Hall.  Hall puts together poor AB's and tries to pull everything resulting in the most predictable AB of anyone I've ever seen (take the first pitch strike, foul the pitch off for the second strike, swing and miss on a slider away).  Cameron puts together good AB's, hardly ever gets fooled, doesn't try to do too much with the pitch...he just has a tremendous hole in his bat.  For these and other reasons, I'd like Cameron and Hardy to swap in the lineup (Hardy 2nd and Cameron 7th).

Jason Kendall; he's the guy i'd like to see leading off.  He leads the team in OBP at .369 and very rarely strikes out (9 K's-34 games, which is actually higher than expected).  Isn't that what you'd typically like to see out of your leadoff man?  Don't get me wrong, i've fallen in love with Kendall batting 9th as I think it's really benefitted the team, but I think, for the time being, let's try swapping Kendall and Weeks in the order (Jason 1-Weeks 9) and seeing how it shakes out.

Although Corey Hart appears to do very well in the lead off spot, I don't think we can move him from the 5 spot.  If we put Hall or Cameron in the 5 spot, Prince will have NO protection and unfortunately will suffer from that.  The only member on this team that would be an improvement in the lead off spot would be Tony Gwynn Jr.  And with the Veteran Cameron in CF, Gwynn isn't going to get the starts to put him in that spot.

Rickie Weeks may be our best option at leadoff, but the problem is he is not a leadoff hitter. I think Rickie should bat in the 2 hole.  I lineup would look like this I guess:

1 - Kendall

2 - Weeks

3 - Braun

4 - Feilder

5 - Hart

6 - Cameron

7 - Hardy

8 - Hall

9 - Pitchers spot
