okay i'm in a fanasty league that lets you keep one player or you can choose to not keep a guy and get put in a preliminary draft that lets you draft a top tier guy which means by the first round QB and RB are already midly depleted so heres my dilemna I have Peyton Manning, Clinton Portis, and Marion Barber who i drafted last year and am thinking about keeping one of them the thing is that i took Manning in the prelim and i ended up with a decent RB corps because there was a run on WR in the first and second round and this year i doubt i will get lucky again so what should i do?? Keep Manning again and get the production that comes with feeping him or do i go in a new direction and hope to snag a good RB and then add a QB in the second or third round? By the way i really have no inclination to keep either of the Rbs i mentioned above because they really are not top tier fanasty RBs

I think you answered your own question.  I would keep P. Manning (top 2 QB) over a part time RB (M. Barber will share time with F. Jones) and a RB that gets hurt alot in Clinton Portis.  There is about a handful of starting top tier running backs but there is less in the QB catagory.  P. Manning and T. Brady are by far the best in their class.  Keep the QB and concentrate on the RBs/WRs during draft day.

Yea i need to still talk it over because Peyton Manning might not be able to put up the same caliber numbers this year without Marvin Harrison even though last year he was able to do it

What pick are you (or would you be) in each round?

My advice would be to do a little research about who's in front of you and who they would likely keep.  You gotta think LT, AD, SJ, and prob Brady, Westbrook will be kept if they're on different teams.  If you have an early pick, you may have a shot at a good/great player b/c 2 of the above guys (as well as others i haven't listed) could have been on the same team and hence back in the draft.  If you're drafting say, 9th, my advice would be to keep manning.  The reason being is that at least a few of the prior 8 guys, prob won't keep anyone and hence have a chance to get the top teir guys that got put back in the pool.  Manning is gonig to be better than a top 9 guy.  Make sense?

I would keep Manning for the reason stated above. You should be able to draft a higher tier RB then the ones you have now in the first round. You know Brady will be off the board before draft day, so you will have the best Available at that position. Worst case, you still get one of the two running back in the draft...

Yea i see what you are saying but the thing is that the leage has 16 teams in it so i don't want to take Peyton Manning then have to draft back to back running backs if i get a late draft pick. Heres how the draft for me went

Prelim: Peyton Manning

1st round pick : Clinton Portis

2nd round pick : Cedric Benson

3rd round pick : Plaxico Burres

4th round pick : Joey Galloway

5th round pick : Marion Barber

also got Greg Jennings with 7th round pick and Patriots defense with 8th round pick

Would you rather keep Peyton Manning or get a number one running back?

Perhaps I'm not looking at this correctly but with 16-teams and each able to keep one player I doubt that a 'top tier' RB will be there regardless.  If your league was set-up so that the keeper went in the round selected, then Marion Barber would be a steal in the fifth round.  However, it does not appear that is the case.  As such, I'd hang on to Peyton Manning and go after RB with the first and second picks.

There's usually only like maybe 8-10 teams that actually keep a player so you might be able to get a tier one guy possibly a top tier two guy so by keeping Peyton Manning you really don't know if that crazy good RB will be there.
