Ok so it wasn't the Arena Bowl, but it sure was an exciting game! We almost left with about 3 minutes to go when Georgia scored to cut it to 2 TDs. I'm a fan of Arena Football and I know all to well you never leave a game if your team is only down by a couple TDs and there is time on the clock.

People were heading for the exits and suddenly everyone stopped and came right back to   their seats. I found out later on, they were allowing fans with ticket stubs back into Gwinnett Arena. That game will go down as one of the biggest comebacks (for me at least) in AFL history.

Now if only the Force can continue to turn it around and win some more divisional games!

It was a good game.  I was flipping back and forth between a hockey game and the Soul/Force game so I didn't see everything that happened.  But I thought the Soul had the game wrapped up with about 4 minutes left in the game.  But when the Force caught up and got the last touchdown and decided to go for the two-point conversion instead going for the tie, I was shocked.  But that's what made it that more exciting.

The Soul had about 16 seconds left after the Force took the lead.  In the AFL, that's a lot of time.  But the Force stood their ground and made the Soul go for a long field goal which went way right.  I'm sure the game sucked for the Soul, but as an unbias AFL fan of this game (because my team wasn't involved), that was a great game.  Down to the wire, nail biters.

Congrats to the Force.

That's what makes the Arena League so exciting, the games are almost never out of reach for either team. I know it sounds crazy, but it was almost like watching an NCAA tourney game in the final minutes during that comeback.

In the NFL, if say the Saints are beating the crap out of Tampa Bay (yeah I figured you'd like that example, Fleurdelisfan) and are up by 3 TDs with less than 4 minutes to go then you can head out and beat the traffic. But in this league well more than half the time it's going to come down to the final tic.

By the way, Fleur, do you remember an Arena Football League team called the New Orleans Night? They had a crescent moon logo on their helmets and played back in the early 90s? (maybe late 80s? I'd have to google it to remember the exact dates) Anyway, they didn't seem to make any big noise back then, but it's really good to see an Arena team back down in the bayou.

Here's to hoping the major networks bring the AFL back to weekend afternoons. I'm not much of a baseball fan, unless I'm going to the games. I love the NHL and ECHL, but other than that there really isn't much to watch sports-wise this time of year. (sorry, not a big fan of the NBA, but I'll watch the game 7s in the playoffs! )

JustaFan - thanks for the scenario of the Saints beating the crap out of Tampa Bay. I did laugh at that.  But to answer your question about the New Orleans Night, I'm trying to figure out how I never heard of them.  I don't remember New Orleans having an AFL team.  Because I was excited when I heard about the Voodoo coming. We had a USFL team called the New Orleans Breakers, but that league didn't last long.

The only thing I can figure as to why I never heard of the night is because I was in college during those years and didn't live in the area at that time.  It looks like they were in the league for only two years (1991 - 1992)  I hate that I missed that.  Although the team didn't do very well.  I'm glad we another shot.  I enjoy the games.

I wish the networks would cover more games too.

Maybe one of the reasons fans at the Night games didn't seem to make a lot of noise is because they played in the Superdome. They must of done a lot to make it smaller.

Well, there really wasn't a choice in arenas back then I'm guessing. An arena game in the Superdome... wow, I wished I had seen some of those games. ESPN2 was the only network that covered the AFL back then and most of their games were taped and played after midnight.

We've come along way, but there's still tons of more room for improving the viewer ratings.
