I just wanted to shed some light on the old argument given to SEC schools that academics dont matter at their schools. SEC setting the standard now, apparently in academics as well.

To be honest I am surprised that Purdue is number 53. They are very well respected for their engineering programs.
Interesting list though....surprised Bama is in the top 15.

I hate to tell you this, ng but not all BCS conference schools are public institutions.
See, Southern Cal, Syracuse, Miami, etc...
Look at the first page of the link an choose National Universities and make the list...
Thanks, JSS

Well, for starters, it's a list of public schools, which leaves Northwestern (we only leave 'em in for the academics) off the list. Of course, the SEC can say the same about Vanderbilt.
If you bump the list to top 54 schools, however, the Big 10 gets 2 more (Purdue and Minnesota . . . vastly underrated on this list), while the SEC gets none.
That accounts for every Big 10 school except Penn State, which belongs in the Big East anyway.

I agree that Penn State belongs in the Big East and wish they'd go there, but they are number 35 on the list that NG produced and number 84 overall.

No offense ng but these lists are all a bunch of hogwash. It's all about what you decide to major in and how you apply yourself. It really doesn't matter where you go.
The man I work for who is sitting to my left as we speak makes well over $350,000.00 per year and he is a graduate of Mississippi State.

Oh.....I posted too quick.
I didn't see that was just public universities. That changes things a bit here.

Hell, Im still suprised that Bama is top 15 in public universities. That difference doesnt change much for me. Thats also still #1 in the SEC.
