Yeah, pretty arrogant.
The way I read the original letter from the NCAA, they were more pi$$ed about arrogance and being lied to and mislead than the actual offenses themselves. For the University to tell the NCAA what they should do is simply arrogant... and I predict that the NCAA will impose some additional restrictions just to show that IU shouldn't tell them what to do. Hopefully nothing major - I mean, IU is right, the self-imposed restrictions should be enough - but being arrogant about it is BAD politics. Just as hiring Sampson in the first place....
Maybe Indiana does need a new AD after all.... he just can't seem to have the proper judgment to handle public image and relations with the NCAA.
