With the most poorly constructed team in MLB and the worst rated minor league system in MLB the next GM is going to have to undo what may not be possible to undo for a few years. This team is buried in more bad contracts than any team outside of the New York Knicks and the next Gm will have to be willing to have a very poor team for a few years and deal with the wrath and blame of sox fans at the same time. Most potential GMs will not deal with this type of problem as they will look for some shorter term hope, they also will have to accept lower levels of compensation from the White Sox organization than they may expect from other teams. They also will have to accept that they will not be allowed to have any representation as they take on a new deal either.

Given these facts, I do not see a Dave Dombrowski type signing up with the Sox, but with the situation so bad here, possibly a Steve Stone type of person who has wanted total control and has not found a home would fit. It will not be easy to find someone to fix what has been so horribly neglected for the last couple years but the longer they wait the worse the current GM will bury this organization. He can’t be worse than Hawk was, can he?

Dye, Linebrink, Dotel, Contreras. Those contracts come to mind.

I will not include Bueherle because I refuse to deem him expendable and overpaid because of 2 months into a season that he has not been consistent, whereas 7 out of his 8 previous seasons have shown the complete opposite. He is not even making anywhere close to Zito $ or pitching in the same realm as Zito so dont bother comparing the 2.

I agree, Dotel's and Linebrinks are beyond nuts and Thome's is a joke. And let's not forget the 4.5 he gave away to Uribe.
Now Kenny is saying he won't draft anyone unless he likes their agent and he will not pay them based on where they are drafted but will instead offer them contracts based on White Sox value. This looks like another wasted pick coming up. and at no. 8 that's a problem.

You really think these are god awful contracts ? Dye was only 2yrs. $21mil , Linebrink 4yrs $19 mil. , Dotel 2 yrs $11 mil and Contreras 3yrs $29 mil. When I think god awful contracts I think : A. Jones 2yrs $36 mil , J. Pierra 5yr $44mil. , A. Soriano 8yr $146mil. , J. Giambi 7yr $120 mil. , C. Pavano 4yr $39.5 mil. , P. Martinez 4yr $53mil. or E. Gagne 1yr $10mil. Those are bad contracts.

Linebrink and Dotel have been worth the money this season, and Contreras and Dye were instrumental to winning in 05, and they've been very good this season also.

We all need to realize that any trash started by WSworld1 is going to be a negative based thread based on no truth, he thinks we don't have a minor league system, here are some stats from our guys down there:

Aaron Poreda, LHP - 3-2, 2.34 ERA, 30K/7BB in 42.1 IP along w/ a .221 BAA.

John Ely, RHP - 1-4, 3.51 ERA, 34K/5BB in 41.0 IP

John Shelby, OF/2B - .321, 5 HR, 15 RBI, .361 OBP, .551 SLG, 11SB/0 CS.

Chris Getz, 2B - .275, 4 HR, 10 RBI, 4SB.

Lance Broadway, RHP - 5-1, 1.13 ERA(!!), 26K/12BB in 48.0 IP w/ a .187 BAA.

Wes Whisler, LHP - 5-1, 2.38 ERA, 18K/17BB in 41.2 IP.

Anthony Carter, RHP - 4-0, 1.43 ERA (!!), 48K/8BB in 44 IP w/ a .175 BAA.

Jacob Rasner, RHP - 2-3, 3.41 ERA, 17K/16BB in 29.0 IP.

Jon Link, RP - 1-1, 2.40 ERA, 16K/9BB in 15.0 IP.

Kanekoa Texeira, RP - 0-0 (=/), 1.88 ERA, 13K/7BB in 14.1 IP w/ a .189 BAA.

1st off, it's not 05 anymore, most of us realize this. Dotel is garbage, Linebrink is enjoying his change of leagues honeymoon right now, but 20 mil. for this guy is laughable and one of the reasons BBAmerica called it one of the 3 worst deals of the year.

I'm sorry I prefer not to live in some bizzare fantasyland where Alexie Ramirez is a batting champ before his first MLB game and Fields is in the hall of fame.

Not one of the players listed is on any top 100 list, not 1. But I guess thats just :because nobody knows the White Sox farm systems but you.

Dotel is garbage with his 3.38 era & 25 Ks?

And of course it couldn't be that Linebrink is pitching to what his career averages would suggest, he's just having a "change of leagues honeymoon".

I'm sorry I prefer not to live in some bizzare fantasyland where Alexie Ramirez is a batting champ before his first MLB game and Fields is in the hall of fame

Yes, you live in the fantasy world where baseball america dictates the future of baseball, where everything you say is right, where everything that has to do with the White Sox and their future is negative.

And WHO CARES about a top 100 lists, I presented you with STATS of good players playing well.
