you must be a Red Sox or Mets fans.  Always seem to be the classless type who like to rub it in.  You know- there are actually Yankees fans who compliment other teams, but of course all Bosox and Mets fans know how to do is bash yankee fans.

Nice, you claim to be such a wonderful Yankee fan, the kind who never "rubs it in", only to contradict yourself a few seconds later by making an ignorant blanket statement about BoSox and Mets fans.  Either you're too stupid to realize what you just did, or you're a just a loser.  You're choice.

Cripes, it's only May.  I might enjoy seeing the pinstripes in the basement, but we've all seen the "mini" catastrophes this organization has provided over the past few years, subject to so much conjecture and media blitz, only to end up where?  In the post-season.  Again.  And Again.  And Again.  Get back to me in August, and we'll see how it's shaken out...  Damn Yankees...

I love it. Seeing the Yankees right where they deserve to be "IN LAST PLACE" is the greatest feeling. I know the Steinbreners are kicking themselves for letting Joe Torre go now. How can you let a guy who got you to the playoffs almost every year he was with the team go???? That Red Sox jersey that was buried in their new stadium is already working even after they removed it. I hope that guy actually buried another one somewhere and the only reason he spoke up about the one they found was because he knew someone that saw im put it there or knew he put one in their somewhere was going to say something. Give up one and they will think that was all. Hey Yankees fans it will get better at least you MIGHT be able to beat Baltimore. HA Ha Yankees SUCK!!!!!!!!!!

Its quite a site to see having the Yankees in last place. Only thing is, how long is that going to last? They'll bounce back Im sure but this may just be the end of the miraculous streak of consecutive playoff appearences. But if the Yanks arent going, that just means the Red Sox are

Damn AL East

Maybe in 2010 it'll be the Rays and the Orioles 1 and 2 on the AL East standings

It may be too early for panic, but several of my Yankees fans co-workers sure are!

In fact, they've asked me, an Indians fan, who our pitching coach is...lol....

Yeah, ironically, I work  for the Post office, and they're about to "go Postal"........

I love it. I usually always root for the underdog, unless they are facing my White Sox, and tampa bay definitly qualifies as an underdog. Now all thats left is the Red Sox to start a battle with the Yankees on who can play the worst, the Cubs to lose like they always do, and my WHITE SOX to win another WORLD SERIES with mananger ozzie guillen. the only other team i will accpet winning would be the devil Rays so................

people keep talking about wait till august and years past but first off this isnt your TORRE'S YANK'S AND even so it's been what?...5-6 years since they won a ring.......NO PITCHING ON THAT MASSIVE PAYROLL AND  since the start of time "pitching win's rings"........though a hefty payroll usually keeps teams afloat for years, the Angels/cardnials/marlins proved you dont have to be top 5 in payroll to win a CHAMPIONSHIP!!!! this RAY'S team is built for the long haul.hence:..kazmir-shields-longoria-crawford-........so keep on dreaming of years past you sox/yank's fans and await our demise but it's not happening..........

You know what's sad... Yes, the Yankees are in last place (for the moment). But, top-to-bottom, the teams in the AL East are separated by 4.5 games. That's it. 120 games is a lot of time to make up a 4 game difference. People forget that it's just now halfway through May. They have played 44 games of a 162 game schedule. If the Yankees make up 2 games per month (not exactly demanding) they still win the AL East. It's also easy to say their high payroll isn't getting them anything. Well, Alex Rodriguez is still out, Jorge Posada is still out, they have spot starters from the minors in the rotation while their starting pitching at least gets healthy enough, Wilson Betemit and Phil Hughes are both on the DL, Derek Jeter just returned. Yeah, something tells me that getting just Rodriguez, Posada, and Jeter back healthy and in the line-up on a regular basis that this team won't spend too much time in the cellar.

In relations to the rest of the division? The Tampa Bay Devil Rays have had one injury since the season began, with a middle reliever Gary Glover hitting the DL, but even he is already off the DL. The Boston Red Sox have Clay Buchholz and Brandon Moss on the DL, neither of which  are as important to the Red Sox as Jeter, Posada, and A-Rod are to the Yankees. Vernon WellsDavid Eckstein, and Jeremy Accardo aren't as important to the Toronto Blue Jays as the trio of Yanks. The Baltimore Orioles have no real players of consequence on their DL. And still, the Yankees are a good two-week stretch of being back in first place.

You know why you all like to rub it in? Because you all know that it won't last. You all know that it's the Yankees. You all know that even without Torre they will in all likelyhood end up in first or second place in the AL East again. Enjoy your moment of fame, because everyone knows how it's going to end. Same situation happened last year, same idiots said they wouldn't make the playoffs in August. Guess what, they still did it. And they were a whole lot more than 4 games back last year.

Last year the Rays and Os were a joke. THIS year for the first time in....forever? There is another contender in the divison, and its Tampa. Their starting rotation is every bit as good as the Sox rotation, and its superior to the Yankees rotation. The rays won't collapse because everyday they send a quality starter on the mound. I still think the Sox are the team to beat being as how they have been the more successful team in recent years and are the defending champs, but I like the Rays to be right there with em neck and neck.

And oh yeah, if the rays are still hanging around in july and august, (which EVERY expert i have seen has said that they probably will) then David Price, perhaps the top pitching prospect in baseball, will be called to join in on the fun. (yeah, add another lefty starter who consitently throws 96-99 mph with a devestating breaking pitch to the mix of Shields/Kid K/Jackson/Garza...scaryyyy!)

And oh yeah, the Rays haven't even started hitting yet! Can't wait until the bats get going too....then....look out!

Yankees show why money is spent for attracting fans than to win baseball games. Derek Jeter is still the guy and the contracts that were extended in the off-season are out with injuries like Jorge Pasada and Alex Rodriguez.
