One other good thing that comes from the stadium not being sold out.....You can buy that $14 ticket that i was talking about and move all the way down to the 3rd or 4th row...so I HOPE that it doesnt fill up soon.  While the Yanks do sell out, didn't the Mets not sell out a home playoff game 2 years ago?  Heck the Bucaneers didnt sell out the playoff game against the Giants....I bought tickets at face value 2 days before the game!

Ozzie Guillen. All I can say to that is "LOL." Love that man, some of the funniest tirades in baseball belong to him. If you call a reporter (Jay Mariotti) a "fag" and call him "garbage" and JOHN ROCKER is backing your play, You must be doing something right...right?

Bronco, I have not been to Trop field but would be happy to go. I'll call you the next time I'm in town. I think that all baseball should be played outdoors on grass.

The Yankees have stopped signing and trading for other teams old players. Damon and Giambi were major mistakes and will be gone soon. Abreu and Matsui are what they are (Abreau is also on a 1 year contract). All of these players however have contributed greatly to the Yanks success over the last several years. It is definitely not the same thing the Rays did. The Rays were just looking for some name recognition, the Yanks have made moves with an eye on winning and have been somewhat successful. Many of the key contributors on the Yanks last year and this year are young system players. The high priced players the Yanks have could easily be traded if anyone would take them, the Yanks would just have to eat part of the contract (which happens all the time in baseball).

The amount of money ARod was paid IS stupid but it's also stupid to think no other team would have paid him. He was given his original ridiculous record breaking contract by the Texas Rangers(!) and teams have continuosly shown they are willing to break the bank for big names (look at what the Dodgers paid Andruw Jones and Joe Torre when they had no competition for either of their services). Besides that, you SHOULD be paid more to play in NY because of all the hassle (in fact you are paid more for pretty much every other job in NY as well).

I am not comparing Yankee Stadium to Tropicana. I am saying that a first place baseball team should be able to attract fans to a game no matter where they play. At least fill more than 50% of the stadium. I am from NY but have lived in Denver the last couple of years. We have an organization that is similar to yours in age and success but the Rocks are much better at filling the seats. I know they went to the WS last year and they have seen an attendance spike due to their recent success but there was a core fan base that stayed with the team even when they were not winning.

Well obviously from my name and avatar I am a HUGE Bronco fan.  Not to knock Denver or anything, but what else is there to do?  I mean here in Tampa, St Pete, and Clearwater there is the Beach and Gulf of Mexico (which is free to go to) for fishing or water sports, Bush Gardens, Disney, and an EXCELLENT night life.  The problems with the Trop are A) Its a dome....its really really nice, but I want to watch baseball on grass and get some sun and B) Its in the middle of nowhere....there are no shops, bars, or stores there and its in the worst part of St Pete.  Put it on the water....right beside the beach and near shops and bars (where they are proposing to put it) and THEN watch our crowds...with the young talent we have...its a no brainer.  Here let me prove my point...The Lightning hockey team hasn't been very good, yet they almost always sell out...why?  Because they play at St Pete Times forum and it is right beside Channelside....a VERY nice place to eat and drink and have a good time, before and after the game.  If you build it, they will come philosphy.

Good luck with your stadium. It's a shame they couldn't get it right the first time. What a waste.

I am not native to Denver but I do take offense to the idea that there is nothing to do here. I am from New York City and there are nearly as many things to do in Denevr as there are in NYC. Denver has been voted the #1 city for singles for several years running. I don't know where Tampa ranks for singles but it is somewhere behind Denver.

Denver is also one of the healthiest cities in the U.S. largey due to an outdoor culture. The Rocky Mountains and Rocky Mountain National Park allow for all kinds of summer activities - hiking, camping, fishing, rafting, mountain biking, etc. We have amusement parks, water parks, aquarium, museums, "broadway" shows, comedy clubs, Red Rocks, etc. The music scene is outrageous. I could go on and on.

I know you are not trying to get on Denver but I felt the need to defend. The people of Denver tend to be avid sports fans and support all of the many teams based here despite the fact there are many, many, many, many other things to do. Later.

Ok, ok Corona. You got me this time. Let me rephrase that. I love that man'S TIRADES. They are funny. I'm not at all a fan of the man's character so much as the publicity he receives for acting like an ass. His tirades are still some of the funniest, albeit the trashiest,  most classless, and disgusting, I've ever seen. Save, of course, of that guy who threw 2nd base into the outfield, covered home plate in mud, and acted like a fool for a good twenty minutes AFTER being ejected. Another one of my favorite tirades.

Who ranked Denver #1 for singles?  I have been all over the country, and I can tell you for a fact that the hottest women are in Tampa.  5-1 ratio for women to men....and they work out all year around because they can pretty much wear a bikini all year around.  Come on down here Billy.....I don't know if you are single or not...but if you are I can show you and dfence around.  I promise you will be impressed.  I was...am.  I was at a club here one night and I promise you this is no exaggeration....there were at least 50 women ONLY women on the dance floor...NO MEN...there were only a handful of guys in the club....(and no it wasnt a lesbo bar)....it was the craziest thing i had ever seen.  We dont really have a big hunting - fishing following....but we can hunt gator for a few weeks a year...talk about scary.  Seeing those 2 yellow eyes...you have to hunt them with a spear, but its different.  Our parks are open all year around also....Universal Studios, Seaworld, Bush Gardens, Disney....all year around.  Heck for $55 you can buy a fun pass and go to Bush Gardens as many times as yo
