You kiddin' me?  The Yankees are in last??  I post this not to hate on the Yanks or their fans, but in total incredulity.

The good news, I suppose, is that they're only 4.5 out of first, and every club in the division is showing some holes.

But I NEVER expected them to be in last at the quarter pole.

Also - I saw on the Yankees site on MLB.com that they ripped Kennedy pretty good.  From the box score, his line doesn't look too bad.  5 hits and only 1 walk in 5 IP.  Only 78 pitches.  So it looks like the big bugaboo, walks and nibbling, was not such a problem here.  Got burned a little by the long ball, but a 1.07 WHIP is pretty good.

At least on paper.  What'd he look like live?

.................

He was better than Igawa would have been.

He was OK-did a nice job getting out of a bases loaded no out jam in the 3rd only giving up 1, but then he had a little relapse of "afraid to throw strikes-itis" in the 4th, and it bit him.

All I can say is it really don' matter right now if their in last or first. When it comes down to the end of the season and "magic numbers", the AL east is going to be at least a 4 team race.

Bring on some NL pitching. Woot. If this doesnt wake up the bats, nothing will.

The fact that the NL's pitching is horrendous is even better.

Yankees can't seem to hit a lick.
-----------
It doesn't help having a bunch of stiffs in the lineup.

Here's a comparison of what I recall as a typical Yankee lineup, versus what they're trotting out there today.

THEN
                                                                                NOW
1. Damon (OBP machine)                                                Damon (old, slower, bat diminished)
2. Jeter (Seriously tough out)                                          Jeter (Still a tough out)
3. Giambi/Abreu (OBP, Power)                                        Giambi (A shell of himself)
4. ARod (Eeks)
