Well what the hay lets just let everyone get married to whatever they want right.  Call me a homophobe or whatever, this is wrong.  If everything can be broken down to shades of gray we are doomed as a society.  This is black and white to me.  If you can procreate with your mate then you can get married and enjoy all the benifits and hardships afforded such a union.  If two gay people want to live together, I really don't have much say about it.  I feel under no circumstances should gays be allowed to adopt.  Should we normalize every abnormal behavior?  Are we really doing them a favor.  How about they explore why they are sexually attracted to the same sex, and get help.  By the way I don't hate gay people, I cannot relate to what it must be like, I have no doubt they feel as they do, but what if a subgroup of the population felt they could fly without wings on their 18th birthday, and all they would have to do is jump off a tall building and flap their arms for all their worth.  Would we stand by and let them do it?  My point is feelings can't always be trusted.  I wonder if California or Mass. will be first to allow people/animal marriages, people/car marriages, people/blow-up date marriages.  Silly?  Wht not?  Sounds just as valid to me.

Legalizing gay marriage is going to screw all the gays over in the end...

Judging by how many people are actually against gay marriage, many business owners must be against it too... Therefore, if a gay man or woman comes in for hire, and the boss finds out, the boss will most likely naturally be disgusted. So, really, marrying someone of the same sex will just make it harder to get a job..

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah..."wrongful termination", very easy to get around though.

And yes, I am going to personally attack Pack-Jason....

You are probably gay because you were a weirdo and no girls wanted you, so as it is human nature to have "sex" you went to the last resort of the same sex.

And lastly, it is human and animal nature to want to REPRODUCE, and being it impossible to reproduce with the same sex, saying being gay is natural is just plain stupid.

uk^7, I don't buy that argument because that can be applied to any kind of prejudice.

However, to allow gay men or women to clearly violate what was laid down in the religion which just happens to be the one that founded your nation, is wrong.

The rest of your post is a personal belief and I will defend to the death your right to have it.

However, this country was NOT founded on ANY religion - it was founded on freedom from persecution no matter what your beliefs are. Read the constitution, I mean ACTAULLY read it and you will see.

Peace ... Rog

That's fine and good...but still doesn't quite answer what I was asking.  The Old Testament was still God's word, no?

AxeMurderer, I'm not sure why that doesn't answer your question.  Yes, the Old Testament was/is still God's word.  And it was perfect for its purpose, but that purpose was limited.  It is not binding on man today, although man should still learn valuable lessons from it (Rom. 15:4; I Cor. 10:6, 11).  So to cite OT statutes and say, "Why don't you people who want to follow the Bible follow these ordinances?" really doesn't hold water.

I was very happy to hear this news. So far we have 2 states that have proven to not be run by a bunch of bigoted, closed-minded, asshats. Hopefully the rest of the states follow suit in a timely manner.

It warms my heart to see all these fundamental religious idiots losing their grip on political persuasion.

EXTREMELY well stated Jason!    I was going to post this thread myself a few days ago, but decided that I didn't have the time nor the energy to deal with it.

I for one am glad to know that I live in a state where people can do as they please without being DISCRIMINATED against.

It is funny, the religious right is fine with two ex-convicts who have done the most heinous acts possible (we can go with murder and severe child abuse in this case) getting married if they are male and female, but blow a gasket if two very loving, great citizens of our country want to get married just because they happen to be born of the same sex.    It is so illogical and asinine that it makes my head spin.

The religious right should picket with signs reading, "Marriage for different sexes regardless of anything else, but no marriage for the people we choose to discriminate against!"

Seriously.... in the United States, we allow girls to get married as young as 13 YEARS OLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!     You don't see the religious right out picketing there.    So the religious right says it is OK to get married when they are still children (probably because they are children having children and God forbid that someone has a child out of wedlock before it is born), yet it is not OK for two consenting adults to get married just because they happen to be of the same sex.    It is absolute lunacy.

Once again people, HOMOSEXUALITY IS GENETIC!!!!!!!    Wake up to the 21st century!!!   The horse and buggy days are over!!!

If you don't believe it is genetic, scroll down toward the bottom of the link below and see example after example after example of evidence pointing toward this:

Would you tell a person of color that they can't get married?   Would you tell a person of color that they can't drink from your water fountain?   What about hermaphodites?    Let's ban them getting married too.... after all they are just "freaks" right?    Let's ban
