Cali Legalizes Gay Marrage

The vote we have coming up here in California will bring the issue back to the courts once again. Whether or not the proposed constitutional amendment passes , it will be debated as  to whether the Perez case was properly applied when the justices passed down their majority decision.

Two other things come immediately  to mind. First, why wasn't the current domestic partnership law sufficient, since it affords all the same civil rights as marriage. Second, while the issue is one that is worthy of discussion/debate, how does it relate to a sports-themed community forum? 

" I would have like for the term "marriage" to be defined as that between a man and a woman." Do we take that statement as your position, or am I missing some nuance that actually states the opposite? At face value, it sounds like we agree on this point. I just wanted to be sure since we differ on other subjects.

Are you one of those who believes that people are born gay and are biologically wired for homosexuality? It's yet to be conclusively proven that that is so. The gay gene has not been found.

My understanding is that it is at most an inclination, still driven by a choice.

A sidebar: for someone who has religious icons making up their avatar, why are people with religious scruples idiots in your worldview?

The individual who would be saddened and embarassed by his son declaring himself gay is saying that that life choice made by the son comes in conflict with the moral code that they were raised with. By making that choice, the parent is asserting that their gayness will carry with it some detrimental consequences in the young man's afterlife.

I am guessing that the poster would still love the son, but would disagree with the homosexuality.
