This may not help in your situation since we only keep one player. But he goes in the round in which he was drafted.
That does a number of things for our league. First, you would never keep the first round pick unless it is an absolute stud (LT), since the first round selection is just too valuable to give up otherwise. As a result, some 'first' rounders end up going back into the pool, thus evening up the playing field. It also adds an additional element for consideration during the draft. Who is that potential sleeper I can get in a later round that will be super valuable next year?
Of the two choices in your post though it would seem they should be placed at the beginning. If at the end those who kept all they were allowed could have an advantage since they would be picking from the same pool as those without.
