I think they'll be in and out of the top 25 all year long. Probably looking at anywhere from a #4 to a #8 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Their lineup isn't that talented, though.
The Big East will be the best conference in the country.

I think we'll be good, not great and I could see us underachieving. I don't think we are a top 25 team, but we could become one. We'll be able to score so many different ways, but without Donte I don't think we'll be a very good defensive team. We're going to need Ongenaet, Jackson and probably Kris Joseph to defend and rebound well from the 4 spot. I expect us to finish anywhere from 4th to 9th in the Big East, and probably make the tourney. I really don't expect us to go any further than the Sweet 16 and I'll just be happy with a first round win.

That is what makes no sense.
Agreed that the BE is the best con. next season.
CUSE has three nba players on it, if Green comes back. Maybe another eventually.

I thought they would be around the 10-15 range for most of the year. A lot of those great teams from last year are losing some talent.

I just don't see us ever being a top 10 team next year without Donte. I've learned my lesson when it comes to expectations and now I tend to be pessimistic. Still, I just don't see us being so much better that we're suddenly a top 10 caliber team. I wish I had your optimism, but don't get your hopes up because it could be another frustrating year for you. Wouldn't want you to go and post another 'I give up on Syracuse' thread.

I'm hearing from a lot of people that Donte Greene was actually a stud though JLine, we had a lot of close losses last year because he had no bench and a lot of those losses came to some pretty good teams.

That's a good point, but Boeheim never uses his bench anyways, though we definitely did miss Rautins and Devendorf. I do think we will miss Donte much more than you think. I agree he played lazy at times, but he's 6'11 and led our team in blocks. We now go from a front line of 6'8, 6'11, 6'9 to 6'4, 6'8 and 6'9, which diminishes the effectiveness of the zone. I love Paul and he's a great rebounder, but with his height and him moving back to the 3 he has to work so hard to battle against guys a lot taller than him. I think we can be a great team if our guys at the PF spot can defend and rebound consistently. Against bigger teams we may need to play Jackson, AO, and Ongenaet at the same time, but that will hurt our offense. I can't wait to see how JB handles things next year because we are going to have a lot of depth, but a few of our big men are inexperienced and struggle on the offensive end (Kristof and Rick).

I wish you had an option for "reserving judgment" because I really don't know. I have Connecticut, Notre Dame, Pitt, and WVU as my top 4 Big East contenders for next year. Syracuse will definitely enter that mix if a certain someone leaves the draft, and maybe even if not. They will at least be a team for those 4 to watch out for and should end their NCAA drought either way.
It will be hard to tell all year who's "good" and "great" in a Big East that will have somewhere from 9 to 11 good teams.

I do think we will miss Donte much more than you think. That’s why I was so mad at him in the first place, he’s not ready. I don’t think it will effect the team as much as you think. Duke does fine without a legit big man. I don’t think we’ll win the NCAA tournament anyways. I think we’ll be fine, we’ll have 25 wins this year.
