Boy did this thread go terribly wrong ..
All I did was say that the bozo writing the article in his dismissive way did a terrible injustice to all of the fans, Canadian, and otherwise (can I use that word? it's been around since like 1960s?) as the tournament was obviously popular if people decided to pack the stands in the middle of the working day.
But I've noticed that threads do go wrong when that moron 8 shows up,
And for the record, my team won the gold in the tournament..

And all I said was I didn't agree with your interpretation of the article....as I said I still don't get this Canadian/American hatred thing. Neighbours and allies. I don't like some people I have met from America and I don't like some Canadians, but I don't hate either country because of it. I have relatives in both and love visiting the US on the odd vacation.
However since a few people have chosen to attack I guess I'll respond (Love Utley & 8=OVER RATED). Trying to put down Canadian hockey because a Canadian-based team is not in the cup finals shows a complete ignorance for the game. How many US players are on PIttsburgh? How many on Detroit? Detroit has 3 Americans on its roster and 11 Canadians. Pittsburgh has 7 Americans and 12 Canadians. I agree they are US-based teams but your argument doesn't fly for cutting down my country. Take Crosby, Fleury and Staal off your roster and see how far Pittsburgh goes. Detroit would still have plenty of talent but would lose all its grit without the group of Canadians on it. Love Utley, have you read the Philly roster before?14 Canadians, 2 from the US.
If I chose to stereotype like some of the people on this thread do I must assume you are a giant fat f@cker because you are from one of the Fattest cities in the US. Instead I checked out your profile and see that you are a diehard Philadelphia sports fan who loves his city and its local teams and obviously felt a little provoked by something one of my countrymen said. I also see from your profile that it is unfair for me to group you with 8=OVER RATED because he has pissed you off before with his idiot antics. Apparently he hates Canada and thinks everyone in Philly are idiots as well.
Now last but not least USAHOCKEYSUCKS. I support your patriotism and defense of your country but can the hate on for America. We do have much better beer(although there are a number of great microbreweries in the US these days), but I still think the NFL is a much superior brand of football. The CFL is exciting because it is a pass-based league, so we get the best of both worlds. We live in a great country with good beer, good football and a love for the game of hockey no matter where it is played. We have socialized medicine and a great educational system. We are taught about other countries and cultures so we can be tolerant of those who chose ignorance over enlightenment. Can you imagine being so stupid you would prefer to pay or not be able to afford medical assistance? I'm sure 8=OVER RATED will change his mind when it costs him $100,000 to remove his head from his ass.

I do not rant on people who do not agree with me. You liked that article? Cool. I thought .. well, you know what I thought.
But the pimple-faced teenagers like 8 and usahockey, who find comfort in crapping on something they do not know or understand - that I can't stand. They should stand across the border and shoot guns at each other - maybe they'll both hit, and stop polluting threads with nonsense.

Very well written article. It's good to see that you have embrassed what our educational system has to offer. I very much appreciate your thoughts, views and knowledge. I'm glad to have you in my country. Rider's Rule! By the way, I love the whole 'head out of the ass thing". I just get really pissed at the American's when they bash Canada. Of course most of them don't know what "Canada" is, or where, after having seen "Are You Smarter Then a 5th Grader - American version", and Rick Mercer's "Talking to American's". It's time to bask back, once and awhile. They deserve it!
