Its time to put some serious bite into the penalties assessed to players that accept money from an agent during their college careers.  Any player that receives money before its legally acceptable should be suspended without pay for 1 season.  That would cause the player to seriously reconsider accepting these improper benefits if it means jeopardizing their 1st year rookie salary.

thats just stupid... the nba already forces highschool graduates to go to at least 1 year of post secondary school.. why should these players have to be broke while doing so knowing full well they are going to be paid in the nba?

They don't have to be broke.  If I was a guaranteed lotto pick out of high school, I'd go to Europe and play a year.  I'll take a paid vacation for a year.  No reason to deal with the hassle of the NCAA.  If you're that good, why bother?

Way to steal an idea from an idiotic ESPN columnist and claim it as your own. Either way, this is a horrible idea. O.J. Mayo taking money from an agent doesn't really imapct anyone. Why should he be punished. He's no longer playing college ball and is not yet an NBA player.
