The schedule is as brutal as the Patriots' is soft.

As long as the Colts have Manning they will have an edge on the Jaguars.  Like the Colts, the Jags draft late, and since the now given up on Byron Leftwich, are behind at quarterback.  I like Garrard, a big guy with a good arm who doesn't beat himself but doesn't throw the deep ball much.  Part of that is the Colts have a loaded arsenal of receivers.

Drafting late has not been a liability to the Colts.  Look at their last five first picks.  Dallas Crark in 03, Bob Sanders in 04, Marlin Jackson in 05, Joseph Addai in 06, and Gonzales last year.  As long as they have Bill Pollian at the controls, I don't see them draftlng early without trading up, which Pollian hasn't done since he's been here, any time soon.

Last season they went 13-3 with monstrous injuries.  They only thing I would like to see them change is to not let up at the end of the season and finally win a playoff game after a bye week.  They are 0-3 after byes in the current format. Two years ago they blew their bye on two last second field goals, had to beat Miami in the finale and went on to win the Super Bowl

Part of that was due to the season-ending injury suffered by Dwight Freeney in the Patriots game. If he is able to comeback healthy, the Colts should be able to improve in that department.
Freeney got injured in the Chargers game.

Gonzalez and Moorehead will have to step up their contributions in 2008, especially if Harrison is not at full strength.Aaron Moorehead got cut a couple months ago.

it is uncertain that the Colts have the talent in place on defense to maintain their stellar showing last season.
Umm HELLO?!? All 11 starters are back this year.  With some added depth at DE and more youth at LB this defense is SOLID.

I think the Jaguars are closing the gap, and the main difference between the clubs was Peyton Manning. While the Jaguars are never going to be better than the Colts in that regard, I think they have closed the gap significantly, and are poised to overtake the Colts in a very competitive division.
I have continuously heard this year after year after year.... Sorry but the Jags still aren't close. The Jags were swept last year, and in my opinion haven't really done much to make me think anything will be different this year. The Colts are younger and more experienced on both sides of the ball and on top of that have no problems sealing the deal when it matters. The Jags on the other hand are still having issues beating the other divisional opponents.

Sorry, but the Colts still OWN this division and aren't going to just hand it away. Unless Peyton goes out with a serious injury or retires its pretty much theirs.

Indianapolis Colts' Record: 12-4—AFC South second Place; AFC No. 5 Seed

That will be more than enough for the #2 or #3 seed depending on how well the Patriots and the Chargers control their divisions. At WORST the Colts will have the #3 spot. Outside of the Patriots, the Colts have been down this path MANY times and are experienced enough to handle things like normal.

Now this is a show and prove league but you can't serious when you said that the jags didn't do much this off season.

I see a lot of stats, and some conclusions you may have stolen from another article.

The Jags have underachieved for years, what makes you think this year will be different. And try not to throw any reason behind the Jags taking the division other than "the Jags have closed the gap."

Outside of the Patriots, the Colts have been down this path MANY times and are experienced enough to handle things like normal. Lets just say both the Jags and Colts finished 12-4 but the Jags held the tie breaker, the Colts in turn would get the 5th seed.
