This may seem obvious but obviously it is not so to the Royals Managerial Staff. Tony Pena Jr. is WORTHLESS! He is hitting a dismal .160 and his on base percentage isnt even .190! So what if he can make the occasional Derek Jeter play in the field. He still is troubled by basic pop-ups as hopefully u saw in the 8th inning of the 4-2 win agianst the tribe. He swings at bad pitches and has absolutely NO POWER, not even doubles. I dont mind someone like Gathright not having power but this is different. Pena has trouble even with bunting sometimes. He is a horrible short stop and is holding the Royals back. Not that they would suddenly start winning and yes they still have many other problems but   PENA IS THE MAIN PROBLEM! And also what is most important is that he doesnt even show ANY signs of improvement. Calling him a prospect does not even make sense.

He needs to be released ASAP and a replacement (whether it's callaspo, german, or aviles or another player) needs to be found

About a month ago I said that I would almost be willing to insert Angel Berroa back in at shortstop -- at least he can hit .240 with some occasional pop.  Some fellow Royals fans berated me, and even gave me 1's just for saying I'd think about it.  Just curious if they still think that after 50+ games of complete mediocrity out of Tony Pena.  It is attrocious that a major league starter can not even hit the mendozza line.  If one of the current utility infielders is not the answer, than bring Berroa back in and give him another chance -- it can't be any worse.  Pena needs to be sent to Omaha, or be sent packing.  What a waste of a trade.

I honestly hope both of you are kidding. To Mr. Angel Berroa fan, so what if he is an upgrade, if that, to Tony Pena Jr., Berroa still sucks and is also not worthy of our starting shortstop position. And to yellow jacket, if you think that the reason TJ is sucking so bad is because he is wearing glasses u are on cr@ck. Oh ok so if he takes off his glasses he'll start hitting .333 and start making plays in the field. I dont think so. No way in heck. I do agree with yellow jacket about Berroa, but that lame excuse about TJ's glasses is something a little 4th grader would use. Give me a break!

Whoa now.  I'm not a Berroa fan -- quite the opposite.  I've been counting the days until he's no longer under contract and we don't have to pay that salary anymore.  I'm just saying that with the performance we're getting out of Pena, it couldn't be any worse.

ok so maybe i was wrong about u being a berroa fan, but still i do not agree that just becuase berroa is better than Pena means he should start. Yes i would take berroa over pena but that still is not a good or worthy shortstop for this team

It would be extensive research to try to find a regular player who finished a season with an average under .180   Now it seems like Hillman is doing shortstop by committee as he's not had the repeat starts by a shortstop for 5 straight games now.  I'd like to see Aviles get into more games myself, the kid has power.  Teflon Tony has only been a part of the problem though.   The middle of the order hasn't exactly been getting it done the way they should.  Today they did and we scored 6 runs.
