The way the depth chart looks, I think the 'Under the Radar' player is going to come from the recievers. We have established veterans in Santana Moss, Antwan Randle El and to a lesser offensive, more special teams extent, James Thrash. Throw in the rookies Malcolm Kelly and Devin Thomas and it creates so interesting competition. The way I see it, it will Randle El that quietly makes an impact.
He is most likely going to see a sharing of minutes with the rookies, which is going to push his already low stats lower, but I think he is a much better utility player than Moss. Moss can break a game wide open but disappears too often during important stretches of games. Randle El is always there for the little underneath dump off throws which he nearly always stretches for 4 or 5 yards. He showed early last season that he is capable of putting up #1 wideot numbers, but with the crowded cast of WRs and potentently talented TEs this season, he is going to find it difficult to light anyone up the way you'd like him to.
But I think he'll be the go to guy when they have Cooley doubled, Moss is out of range and/or the rookies can't shake the coverage to produce and they need a quick first down. If everything goes right, he could an 600-700 yd receiver with 4-7 touchdowns. Realistically, he'll probably come closer to 450 and 3, but with the focus on the young guys, he could have a quietly productive season.
