Its obvious who the stars are on this team but we do have some solid and underated players such as Mike Sellars who is a pro bowler IMO. Im really keeping my eye on Anthony Montgomery. I think he will really step up this season and become a force against the run. He is entering his 3rd season and was greatly improved last season compared to his rookie campaign. I think with his size and strength he can be for us what Marcus Stroud was in his younger years for Jacksonville.

I think Reed Doughty is going to show that he is a solid FS. He is no Sean Taylor but I see him comming up with 5 int's and will show that him and LaRon Landry will be a force for years to come.

The way the depth chart looks, I think the 'Under the Radar' player is going to come from the recievers. We have established veterans in Santana Moss, Antwan Randle El and to a lesser offensive, more special teams extent, James Thrash. Throw in the rookies Malcolm Kelly and Devin Thomas and it creates so interesting competition. The way I see it, it will Randle El that quietly makes an impact.

He is most likely going to see a sharing of minutes with the rookies, which is going to push his already low stats lower, but I think he is a much better utility player than Moss. Moss can break a game wide open but disappears too often during important stretches of games. Randle El is always there for the little underneath dump off throws which he nearly always stretches for 4 or 5 yards. He showed early last season that he is capable of putting up #1 wideot numbers, but with the crowded cast of WRs and potentently talented TEs this season, he is going to find it difficult to light anyone up the way you'd like him to.

But I think he'll be the go to guy when they have Cooley doubled, Moss is out of range and/or the rookies can't shake the coverage to produce and they need a quick first down. If everything goes right, he could an 600-700 yd receiver with 4-7 touchdowns. Realistically, he'll probably come closer to 450 and 3, but with the focus on the young guys, he could have a quietly productive season.

The whole team is going to be "under the radar'" this year IMO.  There is no buzz about the skins which is good for us, and I like the feedback from the OTA's and mini camps from the players.  They feel recharged by the new but still familiar scheme of things but most importantly they are having fun and have a lot of respect in Zorn already.

It's going to be an interesting season. Can't wait.

I hope you are correct skinsgal99! That would be great if the Redskins come in under the radar and surprise us all. I am looking forward to the season as well!

I am praying that it is Jason Campbell. I know all Skins fans think he is not under the radar but throughout the league he is still under the radar. I hope that playing the WCO, having Jim Zorn, and having deeper WR corp will make the game easier for him. We know he has the talent but he needs to have that breakout season to open the leagues eyes about the QB in DC. If he has a 17TD and 11 int season then we will struggle on the offensive side of the ball. I am looking at him putting up 25 TD's and less than 10 Int's. Those will be great numbers and have our offense in the upper tier of the NFL.

Admittedly, I usually diasagree with WV, but in this case I agree with him completely (and eerily so).  Just reading the headlines I was going to say Reed Doughty and 5 picks (maybe its because thats how many Sean taylor had last year).

Doughty was a ball hawk in college.  He may not be the most skilled, but he has a sense of where the ball will be and thats more important.
