Adversity- condition or instance of continued difficulty.

That's what this team had to overcome all season long.  Mark Eaton, Maxime Talbot, Gary Roberts, Marc-Andre Fleury, Sidney Crosby, high ankle sprains, broken legs, tested to the limit.  Yet, they never gave up.  Never called it quits.  Stepped up and rose to the challenge.  A team of young men, faced by nothing but adversity,  looking it straight in the eye and rising to the challenge.

Players like Ty Conklin, Ryan Malone, Petr Sykora, Evgeni Malkin, Brooks Orpik, Tyler Kennedy, Adam Hall, Jordan Staal, Jaarko Ruutu and the rest of the Penguins organization played like men until the last second at the final buzzer.  From game 1 in the regular season until game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals.  From last place to a race for the cup. An amazing accomplishment.  The time will come when the cup is held high once again in the steel city by a man wearing a black and gold jersey.

Hold your heads high and know this: There is no shame in what you accomplished.  The time will come and the banners will fly high in the igloo for years to come.  Banners of the past, and of the future.   You have shown us the true meaning of the word TEAM.  As a true fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

GO PENS!

Great Post Pensburgh..  Obviously we all wish it ended different, but what a great season.  I am so proud of our guys.  They never said never and could have easily quit in game 5.  But they didn't.  They gave us Pens fans one more day to be optimistic about hoisting the cup.  They never gave in and never gave up.  GREAT YEAR PITTSBURGH!

GO PENS IN 2009!!

The Pens gave everything they had
right down to the last second.

Pittsburgh loves their Penquins!

It was a great Stanley Cup Final.
The two best teams facing off over 6 games (nearly seven)

Detroit played real tough.
I think the only team in the league that could've beat them is the Pens.

Next year will be fun.
Congrats to the Wings on winning the Cup..

Go Pens 08 - 09!!

Game 6 was close but we were just too far behind to make the comeback. That puck was only about 4 or 5 inches away from going into the side of the net for a last second tie.

The Penguins showed great heart in the Stanley  Cup Finals and nearly made a great comeback.

Congrats to the Red Wings.

Let's Go PENS

I have to agree with ya pensburgh, they overcame alot of adversity with all the injuries to some of they're best players all year. And when one went down another stepped up.What more can you ask for? Especially considering only 2 teams out of 30 make it to the SCF.Theres no shame in that, for sure.I look for bigger and better things in the years to come with all the experience they've aquired this year.Malkin can learn a little more how to pace himself next year so he's not so tired in the Finals.Thats just one guy outta most of the team that's learned alot this year.It WAS a GREAT YEAR!!!

BTW,nice avatar,it fits your name to a tee.

WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR!!!

Very well put!  I too thank you for a fabulous season.  The heart that the team showed and the never quit attitude at the end of the last two games was incredible to watch.  As young a team as we are, and the talent we have, there is no doubt in my mind we will be back playing for the cup in years to come.  Thanks for the fantastic playoff run!

GO PENS!!!
