Two questions for anyone who has a Rivals membership.

1) Who is this big man they say Pitt and Kentucky are vying for?  I saw the headline but don't have a membership.

2) Why is Darnell Dodson listed as a 2009 committment?  I thought that ship had sailed.  Is there another kid with the same name?

Not 100% on the big man question, but I think the guy might be Andrew Fitzgerald, dont know much about him to be honest.

As question #2, It is the same Darnell Dodson who committed last season.  He de-committed and went to JC down in Florida and re-opened his recruitment options.  All I can say is he decided Pitt was the best choice for him and he is now a solid verbal moving forward.  He is a combo forward and a very solid prospect.  If I remember correctly, he was considered a 3-4 star prospect when he initially signed with the Panthers and now he will have 2 years of JC experience playing for Miami Dade JC, a very solid program.  Good one for Dixon and the Panthers

Thanks, jg.  I thought maybe they had a glitch in the system.  I was disappointed when we lost Dodson the first time, so I hope he can stick around this time around.

I believe with Dodson he didn't de-commit to go to JUCO, but was academically ineligable and had to go to JUCO to get his grades up.  Now that he has presumably gotten his grades up, Dixon has a scholarship open for him again.

As far as the big man I think it is Fitzgerald that they were talking about.  Speaking of big men though I would be more excited about Dante Taylor.  He has consistently improved his status over the past year and is now the scout.com #4 PF in the country 5 star prospect.  For Taylor it looks like it is down to Pitt and Maryland.  He is from Maryland and that makes me nervous, but hopefully Dixon can reel him in.

Dante Taylor is the big guy that Pitt covets. He is a 5 star big man from Maryland and Pitt is in his top 3.  Fitzgerald is a fall back option if they do not land this guy.  Also, Dodson has committed to go back to Pitt after this season where he will be a redshirt sophomore once he arrives at Pitt.

I think they need to try really hard  to get both big guys, not just have Fitzgerald  as a fall back.  We could always use two to help out Blair.

Dante Taylor looks like the real deal. I can't help with the initial question much, but I will add to the excitemet of possibly adding Taylor to our recruits. In high school, he is a man amongst boys, and he would be one hell of an addition to our team.

If we can bring him in beside Patterson (Rivals - #15 & 5 star recruit) we will have one hell of a team going forward.
