I have a question for all O's fans. I know almost all of us are excited that we are playing .500 ball so far this season, so my question is would you guys take .500 ball at seasons end and be in last place? I know I would, however that would suck, but it would be a wonderful experience for Nick Markakis and Adam Jones and the other handful of players that are getting some experience this year.

Honestly, I dont care where we finish, as long as we can break the 10-year losing streak.

As long as the Orioles play to win there is no reason why they can't finish near .500 this season. Even if it means a trip to the AL East cellar, it would be an accomplishment. It would go a long way to enticing top notch free agents to consider Baltimore as a place to play. The pitching prospects the Birds have gathered together over the past few seasons will all start hitting the major league in the next two years. If the O's can field a team around them, that includes Nick Markakis, Adam Jones and Matt Weiters,  then a run at a world championship will be a real possibility. Getting to .500 is one step on the ladder to rebuildng a successful franchise. And its no shame finishing behind the Rays, Red Sox, Blue Jays and Yankees. The AL East is the toughest division in baseball.

I wouldn't mind finishing in last place one bit if we are at or around the .500 mark. I just want to see improvement. If we play like this all year, a .500 record is almost guaranteed. This team first needs to prove that they can hold it together in the second half, but that seems like less of a possibility this year than it was in past years.

Falling apart seems like less of a concern, that is.

I'm sorry, I just can't believe for a second that .500 ball would not be good enough to top the Blue Jays. 4th place, maybe.

I'd take a .500 season in trade for fifth place finish in the AL East. Its time to break this streak and has put a stink around Orioles baseball. While its very possible that all the AL East teams could finish over .500 its just as possible that we beat out a few. Its time to break the habit of under .500 baseball and this will show fans that the O's are a force to reckon with. If a team picked to bring in the worst record in the whole league can finish .500 imagine what can be done in the next few years.
