The difference between the Hawk and Harry Caray was that Harry was beloved by everyone. You never hear of people like, oh the president, calling Harrelson or people randomly dropping by to visit with him.
Harrelson is almost reviled in his approach. He has been through God knows how many color men, and I can't imagine him ever being even considered for the announcers wing of the Hall of Fame. Sort of sad when you consider how his career could have gone. He was such a homer that he just ended up being the butt of joke (or maybe just an ass).
Anyway, the mute button was created for announcers like Hawk.
Put that on the board!
BTW....I still remember a HUGE hit Darrin Jackson got for the Cubs vs. the Braves in '89 on a Sunday afternoon in early September or late August. He had a check swing base hit to tie the game in the 9th off the Braves closer, which Dawson won in extras.
