On Joe Alexander...Reynolds manages to throw in Kris Humphries, Tom Gugliotta and Tom Chambers...all white guys.  How can we take some as a serious analyst when he can't even compare players based on ability unless their race is the same?

Alexander could have been compared to Shawn Marion on the upside or Al Harrington on the middle-to-down side but nope...had to go with only white guys and the Humphries comparison doesn't even really go well.

I agree darryls99.  He's nowhere close to a Kris Humphries who doesn't (didn't) have the athleticism of Alexander.  I see Alexander as a Joe Johnson with maybe less assists and more rebounds.  He can jump, unlike a lot of white guys, so lets not compare him to unathletic players.

Yeah, he could have been compared to Shawn Marion.  But of course he's nothing like him, so I don't know how useful that would have been.  I don't see many similarities with Harrington either.  Maybe the holes in their games, but the strengths are different.  I like the Kris Humphries comparison but don't think Alexander is in Gugliotta's class (before the injury).  Chambers looks like he was thrown in because he's white and tall.  Like Marion and Harrington, there's not a lot of similarity between Alexander and Chambers.

If I was going to liken Joe's style to some current players, it would be more in the mold Paul Pierce or Dirk Novitzke.  Not that he will be that type of star, he has the tools, but he can create his own shot, he can rebound because  of his incredible jumping ability, and he can handle any position as he did this year from point to the five spot.  He can play with his back to the basket or face up.  He is probably more like Pierce because he will play defense, but he can also shoot the three, as was the preequisite for a WVU player prior to Huggins arrival.  I think whoevere gets him will be pleasantly suprised if he gets the chance to play.

i would say more of a tayshaun prince than a marion, he isnt as big on the defense as marion, however his offense is much like prince with range and athletic ability.

offensively is similar to prince perhaps... but prince is just as good defensively as is marion.

nowitzki is a good guy to compare him to. i could see al harrington too.

he looks more like danny granger or marvin williams to me. he can run and jump, but doesn't really have any basketball skills. (He is a bit of a better shooter than Marvin.)

I agree with your larger point.  It annoys me,
