Something still bothers me from the Saturday game that was televised on WGN by Hawk and DJ. Hawk said something like, "They can't match up with our power" which disgusted me. Sure, they lead us by 17 homeruns or so for the year, but we are showing him in the series. Not to mention, we have the 2nd best offense in the majors.

For the record, we had just as many homeruns in the 4th inning yesterday as they've had the whole series. Suck on this Hawk...

Homeruns series YTD:

Sux - 4

Cubbies - 7

Oh, and something else...the REAL telling stat. We have the best record in the majors.

Even if we dont "match" their HR totals at the end of the year, I really dont care as long as we win the games head-to-head.  Hawk is an idiot who is just running his moouth because his team is not winning.

1 stat you can't compare NL and AL teams in is homeruns.  They have a power designated spot in their line-up every day for the DH.   On some teams, the DH is the best player.   Imagine if the Cubs or any other NL team could trot out a big power hitter everyday instead of a pitcher who his about a buck fifty at best?

I bet most teams in the NL won't even get 1 homer from there pitchers for the whole season.

NL team's are basically giving away ~3 at bats a game away.  Thats 486 at bats a year !

Imagine if we had Micah Houfpauir or Daryl Ward taking those at bats everyday?

thats all the White Sox have are homeruns.... theres no small ball, only long ball and that rarely wins you anything.... i'll take base hits with OBP over HR and .200 batting averages any day.

I eagerly await Hawk to declare in the series next week that there is now way the Cubs can win the World Series this year.

Come on, Hawk...do me a solid.

I bear the White Sox zero animosity as a franchise because they are an AL team and for six games a year, they are a rival. THe other 156, who cares? However, between Hawk Harrelson and Ozzie Guillen, you can't help but dislike those two. Hawk is a whiner, and he cannot accept that the Sox are not as complete a ballclub as the Cubs...they pitch well, especially in the bullpen. However, take Thome's 14 homers from the DH spot compared to the 1 homer Z has hit at the pitcher's spot and you are pretty much dealing with the same amount of "power". The White Sox should have an advantage in the South Side, but I still anticipate that we will sweep them tonight and take 2 of 3 in US Cellular. Nothing maginifies the quality of the AL Central more than the White Sox leading the division. This is not a good ballclub. As to Ozzie, love the line about Edmonds, basically saying he is a .218 hitter (actually hitting well over .300 with the Cubs) and that he is not afraid of him, and would pitch to him anyday, and that he is glad Soriano isn't in there. Huh? They play different positions for one, and for two, I will let Ozzie pitch to Edmonds as often as he wants...was it hard-headedness that allowed Edmonds to launch two similar pitches to the same spot in left? Idiot...As I see it, as long as other teams and their scouts continue to insist Edmonds is done, his bat is too slow, he cannot produce...great. Throw him fastballs on the outer half and see what happens. His bat is slower, but he is spread out a lot more and his swing is much quieter than when he was in his prime. THe result is that he is a much better opposite field hitter than Hollywood Edmonds from his St. Louis heyday. He is still a plus defender and a good eye
