I bear the White Sox zero animosity as a franchise because they are an AL team and for six games a year, they are a rival. THe other 156, who cares? However, between Hawk Harrelson and Ozzie Guillen, you can't help but dislike those two. Hawk is a whiner, and he cannot accept that the Sox are not as complete a ballclub as the Cubs...they pitch well, especially in the bullpen. However, take Thome's 14 homers from the DH spot compared to the 1 homer Z has hit at the pitcher's spot and you are pretty much dealing with the same amount of "power". The White Sox should have an advantage in the South Side, but I still anticipate that we will sweep them tonight and take 2 of 3 in US Cellular. Nothing maginifies the quality of the AL Central more than the White Sox leading the division. This is not a good ballclub. As to Ozzie, love the line about Edmonds, basically saying he is a .218 hitter (actually hitting well over .300 with the Cubs) and that he is not afraid of him, and would pitch to him anyday, and that he is glad Soriano isn't in there. Huh? They play different positions for one, and for two, I will let Ozzie pitch to Edmonds as often as he wants...was it hard-headedness that allowed Edmonds to launch two similar pitches to the same spot in left? Idiot...As I see it, as long as other teams and their scouts continue to insist Edmonds is done, his bat is too slow, he cannot produce...great. Throw him fastballs on the outer half and see what happens. His bat is slower, but he is spread out a lot more and his swing is much quieter than when he was in his prime. THe result is that he is a much better opposite field hitter than Hollywood Edmonds from his St. Louis heyday. He is still a plus defender and a good eye |
