If you're going to build a championship you DO NOT build around a guy playing Beasley's position. Nobody at that position led his team to a title in recent memory. It's a no brainer to take Rose.

Pizza, I disagree with you. Tim Duncan in only one inch taller than Beasley and Beasley's wing span is ridiculous. Beasley is going to be great in the league. There is no doubt about it. His foot work in the post is off of the charts, he is a rebounding machine, his defense is good, and he has a great mid range shot. Last time I checked, Duncan has 4 titles. Give me a point guard in the league that has led his team to 4 titles that is playing right now......wait there's none. Only team I have seen in my lifetime where their best player was a true point guard (Magic was the exception) is Detroit.

Seatowner you are incorrect, Duncan is actually 3 inches taller than Beasley. Duncan is 6'11 and Beasley is 6'8.

Last I heard Beasley measured 6' 7".

Look at the improvements teams made in recent years from the point guard position. We've seen Chris Paul, Darren Williams, Tony Parker and older guys like Steve Nash take losing teams and make them title contenders. You have to go back to the days of Larry Bird and he was much bigger than Beasley to build a championship contender around. You can talk about Boston this year but neither Pierce nor Garnett could do it without three legitimate options. Duncan defends centers and played the center position in a couple of titles. He's a 7 footer. Beasley at 6' 7" in the pros is not someone I'd hope to build a title contender around if I had a legitimate point guard like Rose available to me.

Are you serious? Beasley is projected as a small forward and Paul Pierce who is a small forward just was named MVP of the finals. Good forwards have been on all the recent championship winning team ( Celtics , Spurs, Heat). You must just be flat out stupid if you really think you can't build a championship team around a PF/SF which Beasley is.

Championship teams need a good low-post presence to win, if beasely was the size of a true PF I'd want the Bulls to take him, but since he isn't we should take rose.

Beasley will play small forward in the pros. What did Paul Pierce do for the past 12 years or so? A number one draft pick should have an instant impact on a team. Without Garnett and allen Paul Pierce would've begged out of Boston in search for a championship caliber team. What I said is you don't build a championship caliber team at the small forward position. Dominant contenders in recent years, i.e.; multiple championship teams had dominant centers, point guards, or shooting guards. Boston this year isn't a team that drafted anyone to build it into a contender. Trades made that team. Duncan is a power forward/center. His all-star balloting lists him as a center. You have to go all the way back to Larry Bird to find a team that drafted a small forward who turned them into a contender instantly. Today's NBA is a different game altogether. I like Beasley, but picking Rose at # 1 is a no brainer. What kind of impact did Durant have? Not much. They're right back in the lottery. A # 1 pick should do far more than stand outside and hoist 3s at 6' 10". There are guys like that on every team, yet every year you hear the same crap how that player is going to be different. They never are. Would you take Lamar Odom at # 1? What can beasley do that Lamar can't? Nothing. Case closed.
