I voted the Rays.   The Cardinals have surprised the hell out of me too, considering how they've perservered with all the starting pitching thats been lost to the DL.  But the Rays are so young and are so outspent by the other teams in their division.

you have the Brewers, but not the Cardinals who have the second best team in the nl.

after pujols and glaus, most of the team is a AAA squad.  i think Skip Schumaker and Ryan Ludwick deserve all star consideration.  they are doing awesome with what they got which isn't much.

to answer your question.  the Rays are the most amazing team so far.  i'm glad to see them finally turn the corner.

A's should be in it. They are the best low class team in the game yearly and continue to prove the salary game is silly if you do it right.

Orioles and Rays get half a vote each.

Orioles were supposed to be Trammel Tiger bad and the Rays were supposed to be lucky to get out of the growing pains. They are well past that, both of them.

Good, scare the Sox and Tanks.

Why the Athletics?

They've had seven 88+ winning seasons in their last eight seasons.

Why because they have bucked the system by not holding onto multimillionaires and keep the train rolling, I find that amazing in this time.

I voted Orioles because what they have done is probably the most unexpected of any of these. Weren't they ranked last in all ratings from every publication and media outlet? Can someone confirm this?

Yes PH (the other one).  Mine included.  10 more wins and it is gravy the rest of the year for me.

Great note about Bedard and crew btw.  LOL!

They are like the Dallas Cowboys of baseball. Can not advance to the next round when they make the playoffs.

ub, called me out, I expected the Cardinals to be in the race, call me naive, when Mulder returns, which he is now and having God Jr Pujols back will cement a long ride into the race.

Also of note: How hilarious is it that the teams that traded away the likes of Eric Bedard, Dan Haren, Johan Santana, Miguel Cabrera, Dontrelle Willis all are sporting better records than everyone of the teams that acquired those guys? If this continues throughout the season, what an opportunity for laughter that would be. I wonder how many times will it be mentioned in the 2008 Winter Meetings.

Another eye opener: The Orioles are a combined 9-1 against the Mariners and Astros.  Add the Cubs, who they toyed with dealing Roberts to, and it's 11-2.

And Tejada is having an All Star calibur season. As is Roberts!
