strength=offense.....weakness=defen
se

Now don't get bent out of shape.........yet

my take on the position squads nationally

* O-line...possibly #1 in the nation

* QB...top 5

* WRs/TE...top 5

* RB...top 10

* D-line...top 5

* D-end...top 10

* LB...top 10

* DB...maybe out of the top 20.....could be your weakness

Still tough for me to read posts from a "reasonable" LSU fan. It just doesn't feel right.

As to your post:

O-line: I agree. they are huge and experienced. PROBABLY #1 in the nation

QB: Even as a Sophmore, Sammy could be #1. I'll agree with top 5

WRs/TE: Absolute playmaker at TE top 5 easily. WRs should be very good but preseason top 15.

RB: Preseason you're right. End of season could be top 5.

D-line: I agree

D-end: depth and injuries are what worry me. Preseason top 10. I hope is stays there.

LB: Have been VERY good for several years. Should stay that way. Top 7

DB: I hope you're wrong but I'm not going to argue the point.

Good post!

OU's strength- the regular season.

OU's weakness- BCS Bowl Games.

Sad but true.

Great strengths in most every position. It's going to be a great year to be a Sooner Fan here in Vermont..The only weakness as I see it, is the lack of heart & desire. Too complacent when touted as highly as they have been for as long as they've been. Let a little "doubt" creep in, i.e., the Mizzou Game last year, and unleash the hounds! A double edged sword here...I LOVE getting any & all news on the OU Team, but don't allow the press to over estimate the Sooners..That's when trouble arrives..

Tigerfan,

I agree with most of your asessment except for D-Line. I actually think this is the weakness that was exposed by WVU. When you can't get a push up the middle you are in trouble against a team that runs the ball like WVU.  Here is my breakdown for what it's worth.

O-Line = Potential to be #1 in the land if they can quit making mental mistakes and get back to run blocking and smashing people in the mouth. If Loadholt gets one more false start penalty I think I'm going to find a step ladder and kick his big butt.

QB = Top 10 Let's see if Sammy can avoid the sophmore jinks. He has the talented line so he should have time. He just needs to throw the ball better in the wind.

WR / TE's = WR top 20 the loss of Malcom Kelly here is not insignificant as you would think. That was a double team every down that the opposing team now doesn't have to worry about. TE's I agree top 5 maybe even the best in the nation. Greshman really came into his own last year.

RB =  Top 5 easy I'm higher on these guys than any other area of the team. If Demarco Murray shows no ill effects from his injury we could be talking Heisman by mid season.

D-Line = As I said earlier, this area needs improvement. Tommy Harris like fireplug in the middle. Maybe the shoplifting fool can turn it around.

D-End = Top 10 but lacking in depth. English still led the Big 12 in sacks and didn't play an entire season. Same as Murray no ill effects from the injury and we should be good.

LB = Top 20 The reason I have these guys ranked lower is their overall lack of experience. Curtis Lofton is a big set of shoes to fill.

DB = Top 20 I am giving these guys this high a ranking based on what they did in the spring game. This could change quickly if they start getting lit up right out of the gate. Wait and see attitude for now. I'm hoping!

Just to spare my fellow Sooner fans the crap of reading it in every line, the attitude needs to be adjusted and the mental mistakes have got to stop at every position.

1) The O-line needs to play smarter, I will only give them top 5 pre-season

2) Sam is the man, I would take him over any QB in the nation, top 5 agreed

3) TE is top 3, Gresham is a beast, the WR scare me a little, unproven top 15 maybe

4) RB is top 10 no matter who is out there, healthy Murray and I say top 5

5) D-line, it is time for GM and sticky fingers to put OU DT back where we belong, #1. These guys are the key to this season, I think they can, but pre-season top 15

6) I actually like the DE position, they are young, but very explosive. I think they will be top 5, and if AE is healthy all year then top 2 or 3.

7)
