It's a very good deal--averaging 5 million a year for a good player with a great future--mcuh better than signing a star to about $9 million a year long term-- with a big risk that his skills in Tampa Bay could diminish or he could get a serious injury.
I was just about to ask if anyone knew how long and how much. I didn't see any news of it on the Flyers website and neither SI.com nor Sportsline said anything other than multiyear. Glad to hear he's locked up. Anyone know how much cap room they have left?
I was in the Sonic Drive through line yesterday listening to 610 when they said tsn had broke the story...talk about a great 5 minute span...jeff carter resigns, and then i feasted on some chilli cheese tater tots.
Great signing by the Flyers. 5 million a year for a player of his calibre. His stock is only going to rise. At the other end of the spectrum (no pun intended), you have the Leafs giving that bag of smashed apples McCabe a ton of money...and for what.
I was away this weekend and just got the news tonight! Great move by Homer to get this done prior to free agency. It would have been nice to lock him up longer but sounds like a reasonable salary for Carter! Pretty solid offseason so far!
