I know I come across like I'm having a man crush, but as real Nets fans, you agree that players like Richard Jefferson are a select breed to play for us.  Marbury cried about how he want to play for his hometown.  Jason Kidd cried and stomped his way out of NJ.  Even Dr. J, refers to his tenure with the Nets like an after thought. Cris Morris kicking his shoes off and Derrick Coleman got fat.  Alonzo Morning, after signing his contract cried for the 1st ticket out of town. Kenny Anderson B**ched his way out of town.  Lets hope Yi wear the Nets jersey with the same respect and love as did Richard.  Being a Nets fan, I haven't seen many players, especially stars, proud to be a Net.  Even the respected Reggie Theus, with his short time with the Nets, talked about the Nets as being a landfill.

Richard played every night and enjoyed being a Net.  He resigned with the Nets with no problem.  The Nets had to wine and dine Kidd.  Had to cater to his wife and still got the finger. Now that Kidd and Richard have departed lets see how Vince Carter react.  Will he return to the Vince of his Raptor days after he tired of the losing.  If the Nets lose, will Carter want to bail out?  And will a kid like Yi, whom has done nothing in the NBA but showed distain for playing for the Bucks, will fall in love with the Nets?

I knew no matter what, RIchard would have been proud to be a Net and played hard.  Now I am interested to see the character displayed by Vince Carter and Yi.  I had hoped RJ number would have been risen one day by the Nets but now I must hope that Yi will be the man. All Nets fans cross your fingers and hope Vince and Yi don't wig out once we experience some losing.

I hope more than anyone that we win, but when even the President and GM talk about this trade as being a move for 2010, I started counting on my fingers and realized that 2009 was missing.  Lets see how things go.

I loved RJ too but it was time for a change King.  He was a decent guy to have around.  17pts and 5rebs a game was good.  I just think we got a younger guy in Yi who can really excel in this league.  He's a 7ft who creates horrible matchup problems.  I really don't think he had a bad attitude with the Bucks he was just new and out of his element.  Believe me I've lived in Asia and those guys are like bees.  They work hard and never quit.  Give this kid a chance to gel and I think we'll be fine.  Probably even better with the young talent we got now.  I don't think this is a total rebuild this year.  We got enough mixed talent with these young guys to make a run for the playoffs.  Lets sit back and watch them grow.

I think we all agree that RJ was a big part of this team and a good guy. Remeber that last year was his first year of not making the playoffs so he really didn't have much to complain about over the years. He wasn't here when we were finishing close to the bottom of the pack every year and being crushed by everybody and anybody. When he came so did Kidd and yes Kidd picked this team up but also ruined it by making management do what he wanted so he stayed happy (forcing the Nets to sign Mourning, bringing in Rogers, bringing in Swift, bringing in others just to make him happy, re-signing Jefferson and most recently Carter). I believe the Nets would of let Carter walk if they knew Kidd would want out later on the same year. If Carter was gone, maybe the Nets could keep Jefferson but they both proved they can't play together at a high level that they need to play for this team to be successful so one had to go and the more tradeable one was RJ. I'm excited about the future of this team and the way the leadership of this team thinks. Why be a middle of the road team, if you can't compete for a title this year then build for the "near" future with the best young guys you can get and maybe they can take you there. With Yi, Lopez, Krstic, Anderson, CDR, Harris, Boone, Ager and both Williams we have a up and coming young team that maybe a year or two can compete (I mean having a good shot of winning, not just making the playoffs) with maybe a added veteran or two (or maybe just one superstar in LeBron, YEAH).

Gambi nice to hear from you again.  I really like the way we are going with this team.  Yi who I still feel has the potential to be a great player in this league.  It still amazes me how people change their mind on a guy who they feel didn't perform in his first year.  I heard a guy from the NY Post I think dogging out Yi.  THE KID IS 20 YEARS OLD AND WORKS HARD.  I'm sorry these people annoy me.

Nobody in this league thought of RJ as a star.  He was only a 3rd option at best in this league according to everyone.  Now what about Yi.  He has all the talent in the world and has the potential to be a number 1 guy in my opinion.  I've seen him play in Asia.  For all the people who don't know I lived in Japan for years.  I got to watch the Italian leagues, German leagues, Japanese leagues, Chinese leagues, Spanish leagues and any other league that was on in the bars.  I admit these leagues aren't the greatest competition in the world.  But I'll tell you this they are the most fundamentally sound games you'll every see.  Unless you have the run of the mill American kid who has some pizzazz.

Then you keep hearing about how Yi is going to take a beaten by the Chinese National Team because he has to play.  HE'S FREAKING 20 YEARS OLD I PLAYED EVERY DAY WHEN I WAS 20 FOR HOURS AND HOURS.  ALL NIGHT LONG TILL WE COULDN'T SEE THE BALL ANYMORE.  AND EVEN NIGHT WHEN THE POLICE KEPT THE LOCAL SCHOOLS OPEN TO STOP VIOLENCE ON THE STREET WE GOT TO PLAY MIDNIGHT BBALL FOR A COUPLE HOURS.  GIVE ME A BREAK IT CAN ONLY HELP HIS GAME TO PLAY IN THE OLYMPICS.   Now Yao on the other hand has had a history of injuries and shouldn't play.  Until Yi is in the same boat getting older and injured let the kid play please.

I love it!!!!! Bigtime you are soooo right!!! How come everybody hates him (Yi) when he was the 6TH overall pick LAST year. It's not like it was 5-6 years ago and hasn't found himself yet. He hated Milwaukee and never wanted to go there. Two years ago we couldn't trade Jefferson if we wanted to and even last year if we offered Milwaukee Jefferson for the 6th overall pick they would of rejected it!!! Even if Lebron doesn't come here in 2010 it was still a good trade for the Nets. Jefferson, he was a been there done that player for the Nets and they needed to go in a different direction. Kidd, Carter and Jefferson went on long enough and I'll tell you guys something, I wanted them to trade ALL three of them. They are all overpaid for the talent that they have. Kidd was getting too old and Carter and Jefferson, neither one is worth what they are getting paid because neither one is a star! If we could get Wally World and a future first round pick I would move Carter too. But as for Yi, I'm excited that we got him and Simmons (who I'll believe will play better with the Nets) and think the Nets, not short term but not too far down the road, will be much better off!!!
