You must come from outside of this country then because in over 90% of the cases comparable to this, Marshawn got exactly what is normal. Probation, suspended license, minimal fine, and court costs. If Merriman did the same thing in the same fashion, he would most likely get the same thing.
And when did Marshawn ever state he didn't hit her. The reason his attorney said losing his license was a little harsh is that it was indefinite. In almost all cases like this, the charged will lose their license for 30 or 60 days. The problem here is that when Joe Public does the same thing, you don't read about it unless you are a fan of the police blotter. And they are usually not threatened with suspension from their job unless the issue is directly associated with their job activity.
And I am a Bills fan but also worked in the court system and have seen this numerous times with the same issue. And btw, 7 stitches and a bruise and you want a felony??? I've seen people trip on a sidewalk and end up with that. And if we treated all issues like this as a felony, you would have a major backlog in the court systems and the jails because it happens a lot more than you like to think. And any attorney worth a darn, including public defenders, would most likely have their client handle it exactly as Marshawn did. First time offender, minimal injuries, in a situation where it is feasible to occur as stated... the punishment is pretty consistent whether it was Marshawn or someone like you.
