Is it me or do the Nets have too many big men now if Krstic signs. With three 7 footers in Lopez, Yi and Krstic and four 6'10" guys in Boone, Sean Williams, Ryan Anderson and Swift I believe one will get traded before the season starts. You figure Harris and Williams at point, VC, CDR and Ager at two, Simmons and Hassell at SF(maybe Anderson and Yi will get time there too) and at four you can have Boone, Sean Williams, Yi/Anderson sometimes and depending who playing center at the time, Krstic. Center would have Lopez and maybe either Krstic and Boone playing there time to time. Looking at the roster they need a pure shooter maybe from the two slot and another athletic SF (maybe CDR can play some there too). They can either trade the rights to Krstic (if he doesn't sign), trade Boone or Williams since they are both the same type of player and are still young and have value or try to trade Swift's expiring contract. They can sign free agents like Ricky Davis, Kareem Rush, Matt Barnes or Mickael Pietus or think bigger and trade for a restricted free-agent like a Andre Iquodals, Monte Ellis, J.R Smith, Josh Childress or Ben Gordon (of course the Nets would have to give up more then I just mentioned). It will be interesting to see what  Thorn and Kiki do.

Gambi unfortunately I don't expect any big name signings till the Lebron sweepstakes.  It's a shame they'll give up 2 years for that but from everything you hear thats the route they are taking.  An offer has already been made to Kristic and we can match any deals.  Swift is gone he's a free agent along with Nachbar I would think.  I agree I wouldn't mind going after a SG or SF who can play now and make us better.  VC can play the SF position if we get a guy like Monte Ellis who I love.  I'd stay away from Ricky Davis he's not the player we need here.  I'd rather get a lower level guy.  I love Childress and if he came in here and started alongside Yi and Kristic I'd be psyched.  Heres another name I'd consider Bonzi Wells.  He plays hard on both ends of the floor and can really fill it up on certain nights.  I still don't think it's mandatory to pack in the season we have good young talent.

As far as trading Boone and Williams they don't get paid much so I doubt it.  I like the way the bench is set up right now.  There will be plenty of burn to go around.  With a few more big man we have a little bit of leeway with fouls.  I know with Frank we only think there are 7 players on the team with his stupid rotation but in reality some teams rotate 11 guys.  Maybe for us this year we can do the same thing.  The bottom line on this team we need to develop the young guys.  Marcus 25 min, Boone and William 20-25, the rookies at least 15 a night.  You hear me Lawrence?

I hear you Bigtime, Idon't want to waste the next to years either. Wells would be a nice pick-up also if we couldn't make a big splash (like you said about Monte Ellis). As for Swift, he has a "player option" for next year at 6.3mil which I think he'll want. I also heard that the Nets are shopping Marcus Williams along with Krstic. I not sure if thats a good idea unless we know for sure that Harris is going to be our PG for the future. He has talent but I was hoping for both of them to battle it out this year. I also agree with you on that our young guys need to play a lot this year. They need time to develop and the only way for that to happen is for them to play. I'm not sure if Frank is the right coach for such a young team. He seems to shy away from putting in the younger guys or has them on short leashes. I think Frank should be on a short leash if our younger guys aren't developing right.

I'm not necessarily concerned with the amount of big men that we have, I'm more concerned with the talent all of them have. I think Sean Williams has too much value to sit on the bench this year, and someone like Josh Boone earned playing time, which he may not get. Then when you add in Lopez, Yi, Anderson, and Kristic, that's way too much talent to be wasted. I believe only 4 of them will touch the floor during the game, and since we have 7 big men, I think at least of them is expendable.

As far as Swift, some already said it, he's got the player option and he won't make half as much any where else. I think he is going to be released mid-season like Magloire was.

I think Boone or Williams will go. Lopez is a taller version of Boone, and Josh probably has the most value after his performance last year. Williams isn't as good as Kristic, Lopez, Boone, or Yi (in my opinion), and he too has a lot of value, even though he's useless on the offensive end outside of 4 feet from the rim, and useless on defense against a team with two seven footers. I still think Marcus Williams should be traded as well, and he and Boone packaged can help another team with depth. Besides my feelings that Marcus Williams will never be a good point guard in the NBA, he will never start over Harris who is getting paid a lot more money over the next few years. So if Marcus is traded to a team with a weak point guard, he can at least have a shot at starting or becoming the starter.

nyer45, I agree that a trade is coming and I think Marcus Williams and either Boone, Sean Williams or Krstic will be going. Swift will have some value later on (trade deadline)when other teams want cap relief and he has an expiring 6.3 mil contract. I would like the Nets to hold onto Sean Williams and maybe try to trade one of the others. Sean, I think has a much higher ceiling then Boone and is much more athletic then Krstic. Like you said, maybe Marcus and Boone/Krstic can bring back something good. It's better to trade them for something then let them sit the bench and rot. You know the new guys -Yi, Lopez and Anderson are going to get playi
