Sporting News published a list of NFL Coaches on the Hot Seat, http://www.sportingnews.com/yourtur
n/viewtopic.php?t=429295
. I was not surprised to see Herm Edwards on the Top 10 list. I was surprised to see him at #3. So who is the most likely to be fired after the 2008 season and why? (Listed in Sporting News' order 1-8).

The two head coaches with probably the most heat are the two on the San Francisco Bay. Mike Nolan has proven nothing with the 49ers, on the field, and Lane Kiffin is in an enviroment that automatically sets him up to lose. Thank you Al Davis.

Was surprise to see Herm on that high, also. If the Chiefs make any kind of improvement, Edwards will not be in danger of losing his job. If the Chiefs do not get back to respectability, than could see Carl Peterson being shown the door. Hmm..., Bill Kuharich seems to have a good eye for talent, does anybody know if he would do a better job at signing players than Carl Peterson.

I think they left out the one guy that has to make the playoffs this year...Mike Shanahan.  There are Bronco fans who have told me they want him gone.  They respect Shanahan for the Championships of the 90's with Elway, but those days are long past.  Denver has one playoff victory since their last Super Bowl victory.   Thats 1-5 from the '99 season on.  They have missed the playoffs the last two years.  Will Pat Bowlen decide to let him go if they have another year w/o a playoff appearence?  If ex o-coordinator Kubiak gets Houston to the playoffs, does that add pressure on Bronco's management to change coaches?  I thought Mike should have been on this list.

To follow up the last post...Bowe4prez...Kucharich I believe was the GM in New Orleans for awhile..might look that up. It wasn't a resounding failure...but wasn't succes laden either.  The Saints probably wasn't a fair test of someones front office talent.  Also, before we get any Bronco fans chiming in about the Chiefs record the last decade, we have had three coaches, one G.M., and zero playoff wins...that's a discussion for another thread.  This post was concentrating on Shanahan and a feeling of mine that there are a lot of Bronco fans who aren't happy with him any longer.

I have heard that to. I have also heard that Pat Bowlen has given Mike Shanahan the job for life, or until Shanahan decides to step down at least.

The most likely to be fired? Have to go with Kiffin here. Al Davis already wants him gone after last year, but he just doesn't want to pay him. Barring a miracle season, which I wouldn't hold your breath for, I say Al pony's up the dough and drops Kiffin.

That's not to say that the others on the list are safe, but perhaps marginally safer than Kiffin is.
