The NFL channel reported that starting SLB Tyjuan Hagler has suffered a pectoral injury and will be out for at least two months. He'll miss training camp, pre-season and probably at least the opener against the Bears. I've been saying all along that this unit is the Colts weakest link. There is little depth behind the 2007 starters. Clint Session looked good but is just a second year pro and is better suited for the weak side. Rookie LB Philip Wheeler or Marcus Howard may end up the starter. Not signing Rosevelt Colvin is looming large. It will force the Colts to make a roster addition somewhere because they only have nine LB's on the roster including Hagler. They will carry eight like they do every year, so the need for a LB is of importance. Unless the Colts know something about Kyle Shotwell, Jordan Senn or Vic Worsley and are comfortable with them as the primary back-ups, we better resign (if healthy) Rob Morris. Are there are other options?

That's not good. I hate seeing the injury bug started already. Good point on Morris, he's stepped in many times and helped the Colts. I'm surprised that he hasn't been signed by someone already. I'm willing to bet he will be now.

Morris has always been a good sub as he can play two linebacker spots and he was a good special teamer for the Colts.  I am surprised they have not resigned him yet unless he is injured.  I think resigning Morris is key if he is healthy.

I think the Colts starting linebackers are fine and even the first backup Session is good.  After that, it is a crap shoot.  If Wheeler pans out, he can be a decent backup or starter but the Colts like to let the rookies learn a year before they throw them to the wolves.  The other guys are all unknowns but the Colts do have a habit of uncovering good players as free agents.  The only other one with any experience besides Session is Ramon Guzman who is more a special teamer thus far in his career.

I am not panicing yet but I do agree with you OTM that the linebacking spot is a little sparse unless one of the unknowns can make a contribution.  Hagler missing one game isn't the worst thing that could happen but the Colts don't need any more.  I am concerned about Keiaho too as he is a bit injury prone.

I am pretty sure he is still hurt (Morris).  He failed his physical along with Booger.  Unless he is healthy like stated above, and signing for league minimum, I doubt we will see him again.

the Colts have Marcus Howard listed at DE, so i don't know that they would start him at LB unless 2 or 3 more go down...

Philip Wheeler or Clint Session will start while Tyjuan Hagler recovers...i would put my money on session as the colts haven't seemed that big on starting rookie LB's in the past few years...
