Instead of putting all their hopes on a second round pick from Tulane (Tulane??!), the Bears need to find that franchise quarterback that has eluded them sice the days of Jim McMahon. Pitiful QB's like Rex Grossman and Brian Griese are not the solution to getting out of the cellar. If it wasn't for Chicago's stellar defense, this team would win 4 games in a season.

Here is a news flash: the Chicago Bears have drafted only three (3) quarterbacks since 2000..................Kyle Orton, Craig Krenzel, and Rex Grossman. All three can be pegged as questionable picks, and all three stunk up the field. Until they invest in a true franchise QB in Chicago, then their offense will always be bad. The shame of it is, they have the best defense in the league.

But putting your hopes on a RB from Tulane? Might as well be putting all the same hopes on a WR from Cornell.

What difference does it make what school he's from?  TCU is not a powerhouse and guess who went there?  Some RB named LaDainian Tomlinson.

Randy Moss went to Marshall which was a I-AA school at the time.

Jerry Rice went to Mississippi Valley State for cryin' out loud.

Just because you didn't go to a D I-A school doesn't mean you aren't going to be a good or great player in the NFL.  If anything, the guys you mentioned, Orton (Purdue), Krenzel (Ohio State) and Grossman (Florida) prove the antithesis.  Going to a big D I-A school does not guarantee success.

No kidding..... Cedric Benson came from Texas and was HORRIBLE.  I'm happy with Forte and Grossman as long as the OL steps up.  Now if the defense can stay healthy we might be in business.

Yeah, and the 4 awesome qbs that your Raiders have picked since 2000 have done so much for your team.  I'd worry more about the Raiders horrible offense than the Bears if I were you.

I totally heard that!!  I just posted a thread stating that about the lack of QB talent in a long time. Sorry man, I didn't read any other threads before I posted mine. How much worse do our QB's have to be before they realize they need to do some shopping? Our defense wont' carry us forever

Woolybear,

I'm not so sure that someone whose team has won a grand total of 19 games in the last 5 years has any right to criticize another team in the NFL.  The Detroit Lions have won more games than the Raiders in that span for crying out loud!

When is the last time the Raiders had a franchise QB?  Other than getting 4 great seasons out of Rich Gannon (who came as a free agent), the Raiders have had a parade of pathetic QBs leading the offense.

Here's a news flash for you.............Jim Plunkett, Marc Wilson, Steve Beurlein, Jay Schroeder, Jeff Hostetler, Jeff George, Donald Hollas, Kerry Collins, Andrew Walter and Daunte Culpepper have all led the Raiders in passing in the past 20 years.............................n
ot one of those QBs is worthy of being considered a franchise QB.

Maybe the Bears should take a page from the Raiders.  Suck year in and year out so that they can get high draft picks.  Oh wait, that hasn't helped the Raiders.

I don't know yet if Forte is the answer, but, I know that good running backs can come from anywhere. I remember a pretty good one from Jackson State (Jackson State??!)
