Or if you want to really see what lies ahead for Michigan, go take a look at recruiting. In about a month RR kept nearly all Michigan's recruits and added a lot more of his own last minute for 08. Michigan already has 12 commitments for 09 and will be pulling down a top 5 class in the country. Combining Michigan's tradition with a new style (non stick in the mud) system has a lot of the countries best talent flocking to Ann Arbor. It isn't exactly like the cupboard was left barren either.
Im sure someone will come and say something along the lines of 'getting top recruiting classes doesnt guarantee any sort of results'. Here is a quick rundown of the 11 best recruiting schools & their records since 2002 (per rivals, non insider article):
1. USC: 17,910 points (70-8 record)
2. Florida: 16,022 (53-23)
3. LSU: 15,391 (65-15)
4. Florida State: 15,339 (50-28)
5. Oklahoma: 15,167 (66-15)
6. Georgia: 14,934 (64-15)
7. Texas: 14,506 (65-12)
8. Miami: 14,304 (53-22)
9. Michigan: 13,541 (56-20)
10. Tennessee: 13,317 (52-25)
11. Ohio State: 13,234 (66-11)
So RichRod & Michigan haters can bash all they want; anyone who knows anything about college football knows Michigan going into the tank suddenly after 40 non-losing seasons is a ridiculous concept.
