Anyone know anything about this kid (outside of the fact that he's Doc's kid and plays guard)?

He is the first Sophomore since Nick Calathes that Billy has allowed to sign. We all know what Nick did as a freshman, so you have to think he is going to be a pretty special player. Oh and his sister Callie is a volleyball player at UF already.

Isn't there an early signing period for basketball? I have heard of players doing this before. Like Nick and I think Matt Walsh may have signed when he was a Junior.

i agree with you jason, everybody came down hard on gillispie about recruiting 14 to 15 year olds and now here a few weeks later donovan does the same thing and gets away with it?  wht makes donovan so special that he can get away with it and not gillispie?  i think that donovan or UF should get some penalty for doing this.

its totally wrong to tell one coach that he has to stop looking  at players younger than 18 and then turning around and not saying anything when a different coach does the exact same thing a few weeks later!!!!

donovan doesnt have that much pull no MATTER who he assisted under or where hes currently coaching.

You need to look at the NCAA rules.  I'm not sure exactly what you're talking about with Gillespie, but Bylaw 13.1.3.1.2 (Exception - Men's Basketball) states..."In men's basketball, an institution is permitted to make one telephone call per month to a prospective student-athlete (or the prospective student-athlete's relatives or legal guardians) on or after June 15 of the prospective student-athlete's sophomore year in high school through July 31 of the prospective student-athlete's junior year in high school. "

Since his VERBAL commit date was July 3 of his sophomore year there is nothing illegal about this.  One contact in June, one in July with an offer, and the kid broadcasts a verbal.  So quit whining about Billy D getting preferential treatment.  Gillespie must have been working outside of the rule.

Now, back to my original question...any of you guys down in Orlando have any words on this kid (seen him play, etc)?  At 6'3" he's got good size for a sophomore.
