Always a good tournament. If I remember correctly Clisters won this four or five times this decade, but she always beat a quality person. I haven't seen the prospective field, but I'd assume it's just as strong as usual.
The number two seed, Anna Chakvetadze, is the Defending Champion of the 2008 Bank of the West tournament. This is the 38th year of the oldest women-only tennis tournament in the world.
Serena over Anna in final; Serena retired in last match so not a true showing. Would be shocked if Serena didnt steam roll after confidence gained at W.
Patty Schnyder is an attractive, unassuming woman with a pleasing personality, which is wholly unlike Serena Williams.
My hope is that Serena will lose early so that we true tennis fans may enjoy the entire tournament for the tennis, and not the drudgery of everything being about Serena.
Let us hope she nor Venus play in the next tournament.
