Now that Federer has become Nada's biiiich, there should not be anymore talk about Fed being the greatest ever. He's not even the greatest of his era. Nadal is, he's 12-6 against Federer despite being 5 years younger than Federer. As I've been saying all along Federer was the lucky benefiicary of playing in a dreadful period of tennis when the only competition was Stiffs like andy Roddic and the soft hitting Hewitt. So big deal he racked up 12 majors playing against Dog crp competition.

Sampras won 14 majors playing tremendous competition, and alltime great players like Becker, Edberg, a young Agassi, plus won 7 Wimbledons against great serve and volleyrs like, Becker, Edberg, Rafter, Goran, Stich, Krajicek. If Sampras played in an era where his main competition was Roddick he would've had 25 majors. Sampras is by far the greatest and no player owned him, PERIOD. That's what was so great about Sampras, where Fed is already owned by Nadal who is 22. Fed's good but would've only won about 5 or 6 majors against great compettion like Sampras had to deal with. He's the most overrated player in history due to the dog crp compettion Fed was competiting against.

Thankfully we won't have to hear any more talk about nadal's whipping biach, Fed, being the greatest. That title belongs to Pete by a mile. He proved it last year anyway playing Federer virtually even at age 36 retired for 6 years.

Enjoy the a$$kicking Fed, with Nadal and Djokovic now entering the prime it's only going to get worse. Thankfully some good players came along in time, to expose Federer as being a product of a dog crp era.

Are you joking?  The "soft hitting" Hewitt kicked Pete's ass (the same Hewitt who has been Fed's bitch btw) at the US Open, followed by Marat Safin, who Federer just cleaned in the semis.  These two are playing a level of tennis that Pete and others didn't manage to reach- just look at video.  Also, Federer would, if not for Nadal, have already won probably 16 or 17 slams, a career slam or two, and likely a calendar year slam. Pete got his ass handed to him at the French every year, never passing the semi's.  So Pete "by a mile" is a joke.  Nadal is the next great one, but Federer has been amazing, and he might not be done yet.

Wow, I think we get the point Sman... you don't like Roger Federer!!  lol

I'm not even a Fed fan but I'm guessing with his skill set he would've held his own in the Sampras era.  At any rate, I think I'll side with the majority of experts and former tennis players who think he's arguably the greatest tennis player ever.  lol

umm, that Federer-Sampras match was an exhibition, genius! You think Federer would play his best and try to mop the floor with Sampras??

But more importantly, did you not watch the match yesterday? How many incredible shots were both players hitting? Federer didn't play perfect tennis as he had numerous break point chances squandered, but he played phenominally when he needed to. Match points saved, big clutch serves. Any other opponent and that would have been a routine victory.

It's tough to see just how good Federer is when he has been steam-rolling opponents for the past 5 years. Safin played a very good match in the semis... and lost in straight sets.

Djokovic???? hahahahahahahaha! Maybe he should focus on getting past the 2nd round from now on!

I'm not saying that Pete is not the greatest, but it's neck-and-neck in my book. Pete played great competition but that doesn't imply that Federer wouldn't have done the same against those opponents. Did you watch how crisply he hits both ground strokes? And give either Nadal or Federer a target at net, and they will get passed left and right.

UM- it wasn't just one exhibition match. They played 4. In 2 straight matches, Federer failed to break Sampras' serve. Um, that's because has Sampras said, he now has time to adjust to the more powerful rackets. Um' that's why he was serving in the high130's. Um' that's why Sampras playing with the new technology, would've been even more dominaant, and UM, even more, UM, unbreakable on serve.

As far as Hewit and Safin beating Sampras that was when Sampras was 30 years old, playinb on back to back days at the U.S. open. We all know Sampras stamina was pretty much a problem by the time he was UM 30-31. Let's see how Federer is when hes in his 30's.  Bottom line Federer has been cleaning up On GARBAGE not great players. His main rival was Roddick, the guy Sampras humiliated at the US. open quarters. Sampras beat great players. Nadal would've been a cupcake for Sampras at Wimbledon. But give Federer some good players finally and he can't beat them. Nadal and Djokovic now own him and are exposing Federer has the luckiest champion ever to play in the dog sht era of tennis.

Enjoy the a$$kicking Federer, it's going to get worse. FRAUD

How did the "greatest ever", Pete Sampras, do at the French Open? Umm, not so well.

17 consecutive grand slam semifinals, umm yeah, I believe that is a record!

Nadal owns Federer on clay, but that still makes Federer the 2nd best clay court player on tour. Other than playing on clay, how exactly does anybody own Federer?? Djokovic beat him once, wow! He didn't beat him on clay earlier this year either.

So explain to me again how, aside from the clay courts, (which Nadal happens to be very likely the greatest clay court player of all time) how ANYBODY owns Federer..... What is Djokovic's record against Federer? I believe he's lost 2 of the last 7 against the world #1.

Tell me again, how did the greatest player of all time do at Roland Garros? How many times did he even make it to the second week?
