I keep seeing all the chatter about trying to acquire Rich Harden.  I'm not sure he is the best choice.  First off, the Cubs will overpay because everybody knows they need to respond to the Brewers move and clubs will take advantage of that.  Harden has had shoulder and elbow injuries which has to concern Cubs.  I won't count the oblique injury because that is easier to recover from.  Then there is AJ Burnett.  Not a much better option considering his injury history.  Also, I doubt the Blue Jays consider Ronnie Cedeno the SS they want.  Lastly, Erik Bedard just seems to be a pansy lately not going past 100 pitches.

So, what do you think the chances are the Braves would part with Tim Hudson?  Now, I haven't looked real deep into it so don't bash me too much, but if the Phillies can put some separation between them and the Braves before the deadline could it happen?

The more I look at, the more I see Greg Maddux as a solid option.  In his last 6 starts he has had 4 of them go 6+ innings and given up 2 runs or less.  His record suffers because of sorry run support.  The biggest plus to getting Maddux is his near guarantee to stay healthy for the remainder of the year, and consistently give 6 innings.  Not bad to have him back in Chicago to finish out his career either.  Bring him over, and Rich Hill up and let him tutor him to get his control back. Wishful thinking I know, but Hill showed some talent last year.

I'd like Derek Lowe, but the West is so freaking awful that they can be under .500 and almost tied for 1st place.  He is staying put.  It sure would be nice to have a sinkerballer in Wrigley come August.  Any others out there?

Honestly not much, and with the Cubs lack of talent in the farm. Not wanting to give up Soto or other key pieces I don't see it. At this point I could see Jim holding his cards and let things play out. The Brewers getting C.C. made them legit but at least it makes them up to the Cubs level. Being better than them? I'm not sure about that. There is a lot of B-B left and if Marshall keeps pumping out starts like his last 2. Gallagher jells into the BP they will be ok. I would feel better if a top pitcher comes in but I just don't see it. I doubt Jim is going to be a major buyer. Wolf or Burnett is about the highest level he can afford. I would love Harden (no I don't believe his arm will fall off, He went away from his splitter and slider and went to a f-ball/change mix which causes less stress on his arm).

Not for nothing Mac, but I've been talking about Hudson since 6/12/2008 when he was playing against the Cubs. I've been talking about Lowe as well but hes really not a significant upgrade over Dempster or Lilly. I don't know what he has left on his contract, (Hudson), or even if Atlanta is shopping him, but I'm with ya.

So, what do you think the chances are the Braves would part with Tim Hudson?Slim to none.

I'd love Derek Lowe, as well. But as mentioned, that joke of a division keeps every team in contention, so it's doubtful we would be able to land him.

Well, Atlanta is still sort of in it.  Plus Hudson is signed through 2009 with an option for 2010.  So, even if they fall out of it, they'll proabbly keep him for next season.
