And I quote...

“We’re in fourth place right now in our division. So that’s the mindset that we have. We have a long ways to go.”—Bears coach Lovie Smith on the team’s attitude after completing off-season practices.

Do you agree with this mindset?  Why?

I do agree with this.

We finished in fourth place, but just the same, we have alot to prove. Maybe more than any other team in the division.

well, given the medias overall belief that the Bears will be a bottom ranked team and that we finished last after going to the super bowl, I like it.  Players like Brian Urlacher, Mike Brown and Olin Kruetz I'm sure remember when we were always dogged.

I think the underdog mentality fits this team well, they could use to put the chip back on their shoulders.

Go Bears

Yes... Can't hide the facts here, we finished 7-9 last year and Detroit nosed us out of third because they beat us twice....

It would be unwise for Lovie to start declaring that the Monsters of the Midway are back, healthy and are the best team in the division ect.....

It's better to be undergogs cause the Bullseye isn't planted squarely on your back every week. Let the media, experts, the other 31 teams in the lesgue ect....  not take us seriously and give us no respect, it will lite a fire in the belly of this team, especially the defense.

We will surprise some teams this year and baring injury, we will contend for the division based soley on a return to form of our Defense. A return to form on Defense and having a highly rated Special Teams unit can carry a rebuilding Offense just like in 2005 and 2006.

Yes I agree.  That is where they finished last year.  Lovie is a master motivator who will inspire Da Bears to play hard and compete with an underdog mentality.  When he took over as coach and was asked about his expectations for his first season he did not make up any bologna, he said he wanted to beat the Packers.  He did.

Lovie sees the situation as it is and knows just what to say to fire up his team.  His statements above do just that. He has a rare talent of turning adversity into an asset and this is another exam
