Kurt, how can you possibly deny that a team that was in last place last season and is in the middle of the conference this year is not ascending? Not to mention with more winnable games on the schedule, we could easily finish 8-8 or possibly 9-7. Sure beats where we have been the past few years.
Not to mention that we will have largely the same team, minus two bigs who have not been too big of pieces this year (Anthong King has really fallen off the map) and we add a top 50 player via recruiting. Thus, we expect to field an equally strong, if not stronger team next season.
Ok, so your moving up from last year. Your record was like 8-22 or something of that sort. Is it really that tough to improve when you return most of your starters. I actually hope the canes make the tourney. See how they do against some other national talent. Like I have said, the ACC isn't that strong this year. Duke, Nc, maybe DESCENDING CLEMSON and I guess maryland are strong teams. I'm not trying to downplay the canes by putting down the ACC, i'm just kind of trying to make a point.
and by the way, Lunardi just said that you guys are a probable tournament team now. Not sure I can agree with that after one win. You beat GT by 1 in a game that you should've lost, and you beat VT. (woohoo??) We'll see how things shake out. YEA.
It's a nice win for Miami, but they need to finish strong to make the tournament. 4-1 over their last 5 should/could do it. If they fail to advance, who cares whether they beat Duke for the first tim in 45 years?
Chris, you are being very tough on us if you don't think a 4-1 finish secures it for us. That would leave us at 22-8, 9-7 in the ACC. With our RPI as high as it is, that would be a pretty strong resume. Add in that would mean that we went 7-1 in the final regular season games and would also have to include at least one win over Maryland or Clemson -- both seemingly tourney teams.
I would say if they go 4-1 Miami would easily be in the tourney. I would go as far to say as long as they win against either maryland or clemson and finish the season off 3-2 (ACC play) they would also get in, as long as they won at least 1 game in the ACC tourney, ppl may say the Dook game was only 1 game, but it was a VERY big one. And that is why i think they will get in as long as they dont completly choke. And whoever said the ACC isnt a tough conference...your crazy...our worst team is still near .500, theres not too many conferences that can say that.
Hey guys, do not listen to Kurtisish. He is a biased fan because he hates every team that I like, so therefore he believes that Miami sucks. But otherwise, Miami is on the rise for sure, we have won four straight games, our RPI is around 25, and we have winnable games ahead. So let's go Canes!
I'm actually not sure why Kurtisish is even posting here. I mean, does anyone on any Miami message board really care about Wisconsin in any sport?
And why would a fan of the Big Ten conference leader care about a bubble team from the ACC? Or any bubble team, unless it was Minnesota or Ohio State or someone they ever actually play?
That would be like Miami fans going to a Wisconsin college baseball message board and talking crap about how UW baseball isn't on the rise...
Get a life Kurtisish... we are just talking about our team being on the rise (4 straight ACC wins taking our Canes from missing out on the NIT to being a very possible, if not probable NCAA team). Why would you blame us for being happy about that?
