I'm totally in agreement with you bowling. I wouldn't give up any of our young guys for Hossa unless he would agree to an extension with us. I don't want Hossa as a rental player although he would be a big help in our quest for this year. I want him as for the next 4 or 5 years. I'm thinking more about next season when we'll also have Bergeron.
From what I've been reading though it's not looking like we'll end up with him anyway. We'll probably end up with a Prospal or a Tanguay type player in which I won't be to excited about at all.
Unless we can get Hossa I wouldn't give up a whole lot for anyone else.
I'd probably be happy if they could add one good stay at home defensive defenseman that pounds people. Like Adam Foote. I see the Bruins making to many mistakes in their own end to often. A player like that would go a long way in helping out in that department. Especially in the last 3 minutes of games!!

How about this the B's have 70 points in February with 2 months left. Last year the B's finished 13th with 76 points. Since they traded Thorton in like 2005 the B's have been tainted. But this year i think that they will lose 4 games - 2 in the first round this year. If the Bruins get Hossa they might go to the 2nd Round. That Thorton trade was one of the worst trades in Boston sports history in my opinion. IF the B's get Hossa (with this GM u never know) the Bruins i think well finish 5th and face the Penguins in the first round and might win it in 7 games. The B's would have a new Big-3 if they get Hossa (Chara, Savard, and Hossa).
O yea my fave ice girl is Whitney too

Whitney is probably the best, but a couple of you have picked her so I'll say Alexa. Isn't Audrey that season ticket holder that sits behind the Bruins bench with that idiot? Every time they show the Bruins bench for the past 10 years there's that dope and his chic keeps gettin' hotter. Maybe if we do get Jokinen, he could block out the guy!

The more and more i think about it, I dont want a trade... Hossa is great but he has said he will only be traded if he DOES NOT get a contract extension. Which means it is all for not... because he would likely be out the door at the end. I would say only trade for him if they will take Glen Murray straight up... (hahahah). Other than that the Bruins shouldn't make any trades... I don't see this team as being "one-piece away" from championship caliber this year. The only way we go deep into the playoffs is if Thomas or Auld stands on their head for the entire time. and providing we don't get matched up against the Canadiens.. looking ahead a little more, The bruins are behind the league in terms of games played, this translates into a fairly hectic march, looking at the remaining schedule all i'm hoping for is that the B's make it to the playoffs healthy (8th seed works for me).

First off, that Metopolit drop pass to Axe last night was the sickest goal of the year.....
Next, the Toronto Sun.com site is reporting that The Bruins are one of three teams in line to get Hossa from Atlanta.
That would be nice.

If the Bruins do pull the trigger on a Hossa deal it would not be as a rental player. The Bruins are looking to add Hossa but only if they can lock him up for the next 4 or 5 years. But as I said earlier, I don't think Hossa has any intension on signing an extension with anyone. He could sign with whatever team he gets traded to but it wouldn't be until after he is a free agent in July. Any team that gets him will have to risk him leaving for another team at the end of the year. The Bruins won't take that risk.
Hossa won't be coming to Boston unless the Bruins can somehow convince him to want to play here and sign an extension 1st. It's not out of the question though. He does have some ties to Boston. He's played with Savard before in Atlanta (and with very good results) and he's also played with Chara in Ottawa. And they're also good friends and country mates. And Hossa is also very familiar with Chiarelli from his Ottawa days.
Hossa has said he wants to play for a cup contender and have a chance to win a cup. Our chances at getting him depend on how long he's willing to wait for that chance. The Bruins are heading in the right direction. With a player like him and guys like Bergeron and Alberts healthy next year along with another year of experience for the young guys, I think this team could be a legit contender as early as next year.

Personally I do not feel this is the year to give up any young talent for a player we can't guarantee to keep for 4 years. Otherwise it's just not worth it this year. Build on this season, get Bergeron back, and sign someone in the off season, while hanging on to all the talent.
Depth wins the stanely cup. That means 3 plus lines of goal scorers. If we trade young talent for someone we have to pay a lot to we will again be a 2 line team going no where.
DEPTH. Build it.

I currently live in Fredericksburg, VA. It is about an hour south of D.C. I'm glad to see someone else has seen the lack of fan base for the Capitals. They have arguably the most talented player right now and they do nothing to help him. I'm telling ya it's funny to see how bad the Orioles are and the lack of fans for them as well. Mr. Angelos (owner of the O's) killed that franchise. Even die-hard O's fans won't go to the games anymore. Camden Yards, or as I like to call Fenway Park II, is a beautiful ballpark with unbelievable seating. I grew up in Easton, Ma, and used to take the "T" from Stoughton into Boston.
