Do the Bobcats have a chance at making the Tourney?  If they win out they will be 21-9, is that good enough for an at large bid?  What if they do well in the Mac Touney but lose and Kent wins the Touney will that help our chances?

Absolutely not.  We've got to win the conference tournament to get in...we had our chances.  The only 9 and 10-loss teams that truly deserve to get into the dance our teams that play deep, solid conference schedules day in and day out (the ACC, Big East, Pac 10).

But, with Kent State as an almost in for an at-large bid (they're ranked 23rd right now in the AP), we have a great shot at winning the MAC tournament.  Maybe being ranked and having an at-large would take some fight out of the Golden Flashes come MAC Tournament time...highly doubtful.  They looked awesome against St. Mary's on Saturday night.

This could be the end of a really nice run for Leon Williams.  He had some really great help, but, I have to say that we haven't been able to get it all done with Tim O'Shea.  Getting to the big dance in 2004 was awesome (one of the highlights of my collegiate experience), but we've had teams since then that have had the same or even more talent than when we almost knocked off Florida in the NCAA tourney.

I agree with Dukie...the Bobcats have got to win the MAC tourney to ensure their place in the Big Dance.  Even if they win out the rest of the regular season, it is highly unlikely.  Bottom line: win the rest, get a high seed in the MAC tourney, and go on a run.  Kent State is tough, but OU has split the season series with them.  Now's the time to get consistent though.

Go Bobcats!!!

They've lost way too many close games this year (that usually reflects on coaching).  Unfortunately, they lost 5 of their 9 games by three points or less.  If we were a 4 loss team, you wouldn't even need to write this post...we'd be ranked in the top 20.

Teams that lose to Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan and Toledo do NOT get considered for the NCAA, nor should they.

Ohio is playing for an NIT at-large and seeding the MAC tournament. They are still barely alive for the MAC East title with Kent State going down at BGSU. Bobcats need to win out and have Kent State drop 2 more. Then hope Miami finishes above EMU.

After tonight I retrack my statement above.  That is terrible.  Oh well at least I can say when I did attend OU I saw them knock off Pitt in football and make an amazing NCAA appearance in basketball.  And got drunk 4 nights a week haha.

Not a chance in hell. Definitely agree with the other responses. The last 3 years of Bobcat bball have been an exercise in futility and frustration after the '05 season getting to the tourney and almost knocking off Florida. They are masters at:

Inconsistency--> translate, road losses to 7-16 teams, albeit, handing Maryland only their 4th non-conf. loss ever in their arena. Did we play them on a neutral site in Balimore? No. We beat them in College Park. Then, lost to Miami by 30 and BG on the road.

Playing down to the competition--> see also, losses to Temple, Holy Cross, BG, E. Michigan. I could have only mentioned E. Michigan. Ipsilanti, freakin' Michigan...we can't even outplay them.

Underperforming, ie, not playing to potential: see, all of the above.

I didn't think we'd win at Miami, cause we suck on the road, especially in the MAC against teams we should beat. We won't win the MAC tourney cause we can't consistently beat teams we should beat (which is every team in the MAC), and we won't play deep enough in the tourney, b/c we aren't playing like a team that wants to win at all, not like a team that wants an at-large (this is something you have to think about at the beginning of the season when you're a mid-major...every game is crucial), and not like a team that has any pride or cohesiveness.

End of story. Case closed. Our season will end as pedestrian as the last 3, and Leon Williams talent will be wasted at Ohio U.
