Carn, was it you who told me before the season that Mike Davis was a good coach and UAB would be a very good team this year? I know New Mexico said those things and called me names for not believing him, but it seems like you did too. If I have you confused with a different Syracuse fan, I apologize.
Mike Davis is absolutely terrible. Easily one of the worst coaches and people in the nation.

Conference usa is memphis only this year Houston and UAB both lost to much at the end. Memphis loves it they can beat up everone ever year and have number one seed they really have best chance at good seed year in year out.

Geeez...... UAB and Houston ain't even a quality ROAD win on anybody's resume now. CUSA is absolutely pathetic........ UAB specifically, has just given hope to VCU, the 6th SEC team, the 6th Pac10 team, etc. Just when we all thought the bubbles were popping........ UAB to the rescue. The last team in this year, owes UAB a major favor. UAB has gone from at large, to probably missing the NIT over that game, lmao. Simply pitiful. Memphis would be better off as an independent, even if it eliminated 16 guaranteed wins every year.

The coach part I can kinda understand since its coming from an IU fan and people seem to hate him there, although he did take them to the NC game in who knows how long. However, I wouldnt call him one of the worst people in the nation, there was a coach there before him who seemed to do some pretty nasty things.

You're entitled to your opinion. After watching every game of Mike Davis' career for six years, I can say that he was a terrible coach. Absolutely awful. He even admitted it when he took Bob Knight's players to the title game when he said "Coaches get too much credit. Sometimes I just sit there on the bench and I have no idea what's going on out there. It's true, it's true!" Yeah.....even he knows.
UMKC fan, the reason I say he's a bad person is because when he was setting losing records at IU that hadn't been seen in more than 35 years, he blamed the losses on the fans. Are you kidding me? I'm to blame for the losses? Ever since then, I have absolutely no respect for that "man".

Didnt Mike Davis go to the Final Four?
Anyway, for all you Memphis haters, if you knew anything about CUSA basketball this year, you would not have been surprised by UAB and Houston losing, they were 2nd and 3rd in the conference, but both had really good homecourt advantages. They arent bad teams, both beat Kentucky.
The 4-9 teams in CUSA are pretty much on the same level, so once you got the three worst teams out of the way, the conference tourney was bound to be very competitive (except anyone playing Memphis).
UAB and Houston will represent well in the NIT. I hope this helps open up a spot for VCU, because the Maynor kid is very good as he proved against Duke in the first round last year.

Didnt Mike Davis go to the Final Four?Yes he did. He rode Bob Knight's players to the title game in 2002. Did you miss the quote he had during that trip where he admitted that he sat on the sidelines and had no idea what was going on on the court? That was a great team that Davis admittedly did nothing to help.
Dude set losing records that hadn't been seen in IU country before or since. He has no idea how to make adjustments in game. He didn't have a single inbounds play in his playbook (this is true). He is a very bad "coach".

I know you don't care about any of this because you are just anti-Mike Davis, which is fine, but simply in the interests of fairness:
1) Davis lost his 2nd best player, Paul Delaney III, to a season-ending knee injury far before conference play started. They didn't even have him when they beat Kentucky.
2) I believe you have to give a coach time to coach his own recruits before making declarations about whether or not he is good or bad for the place he's coaching. Once Davis goes 7-9 in C-USA 3 years from now with his own recruits, then it's fair to bash him.

Cousins, a 6-foot-9, 245-pound junior from LeFlore High of Mobile, said on Friday that he will play for Davis at UAB. He's expected to sign a national letter of intent in the early signing period this fall.
Cousins is the No. 4 ranked junior in the nation by Scout.com and No. 5 on the Hoops Top 100 ranking by Rivals.com.
Mike Davis had a decent year ...Vaden's last 2 games let the team down.....if he would have been on his usual game....it would have been a different result...it is too bad...when your best player is off.
