Thanks Tulsa, by defeating UAB, you just turned the CUSA into a one bid league.
All UAB needed to do was beat weaker CUSA teams (like they have done for the last 3 months) to get to the final and they would have been in. Now, all the critics will say "we were right all along, CUSA is garbage, and Memphis"
Houston is a long shot, I am a die hard Memphis fan, but I almost want Houston, or someone, to beat us in the final, so we are not a one bid league and we can shut up all the CUSA "haters"(as some might put it). (I say this, cause I think Memphis will hold on to that one seed no matter what happens this weekend)

Take Memphis out of CUSA, and the conference may not even qualify as a mid-major. There is not a team other than Memphis that would finish above .500 in the Missouri Valley, and the MVC is having a down year.

Some fan YOU are!! I can't believe you just said you would almost want some other team to beat Memphis to put another C-USA team in the tournament. The fact is....NO OTHER C-USA TEAM DESERVES TO BE IN THE TOURNAMENT. It's not Memphis' fault that the rest of the conference is so shaky. I would rather not see a bubble team get in and get knocked out of the competition early. When UAB and Houston or some other C-USA team shows they can beat competitive teams outside their conference, then they can make a case. Until then, they can enjoy the NIT and sit home to watch the NCAA Tourney.

I don't know what happened - we had a huge rally here in Tulsa to remind the students (particularly the seniors who sometimes get sentimental) that they needed to throw this game and take one for CUSA.
But, you know how kids are. They don't always see the big picture, and sometimes fall back on those meaningless things like school pride, honor, and competitive spirit.
From all of us, 416Tiger, our apologies.

I wonder if utep had one of those too, becuase judging by their reaction, doesn't seem like they did, this is a bad day for c-usa, at least we'll have alot of NIT teams, but who cares, tom penders is the reason Houston lost

You are correct about the lost hurting CUSA in the big dance. UAB had a good year, but could not close it out with win. Mike Davis did a very good job. However, they will have to wait until next year for the big dance. They will do fine in the NIT.

You're right Texan.. You aren't the dumbest fan ever. That distinction goes to the moron from UAB who ran up to the Memphis Tiger's bench yelling racial slurs at the top of his lungs and got B!tch-slapped. However, I would have to say that suggesting that Tulsa or UTEP should have thrown their games is not really indicative of a whole lot of brains either. I'm sure Tulsa and UTEP would love their own chance to beat memphis in the Final game and qualify on their own.
So are you going to root for one of them to upset Memphis and get in as an autoqualifier, or are you just mad because the Cougars lost early? I think the latter. Even if | |
