I was just going to post about Illini in another thread. They haven't beat the boilers in 2 meetings, but if they get past them, they have a real good shot at making it to the championship.
I've been saying all year long I think Illini may be the toughest team in the nation, but when they only scored 43 in a loss at Michigan, I felt they'd hit rock bottom. It was pathetic.
Purdue should put an end to their miserable season, and that's what I'll predict, but I'm kinda rootin for Illini to beat the odds. It would be the biggest story if they could win the championship. The next biggest story will be when the Portland State Vikings pull off the ultimate Hoosiers story and win the whole NCAA tournament.

They can beat Purdue but I don't think they will beat Purdue. They cannot seem to understand what it means to keep a lead.

Not sure what will happen today, but I can say this: It will be ugly! Painter's team plays the old Keady style "Keep it under 50" and the Illini, well, they're the Illini this year and we haven't had a pretty game yet. Illinois is getting 4.5 with the O/U at 119. Vegas thinks it will be ugly too.

This horrible season will probably end today in yet another heartbreaker. We can beat Purdue, but the way this season's gone, I'm not counting on it but will be pleasantly surprised if we live to play Indiana.

lol. I'm actually hoping Tubby's troopers knock off Indiana. I like the Hoosiers, but Illini have handled the gophers this year.
Illini are up 3 with 12 minutes yet to play. Can they hang on?
Wins by Illini and Minnesota really sets the stage for a trip to the championship.

I switched to St. Joes to see them beat Xavier and forgot about the Illini game
Overtime, up 4, 39 seconds left. Have to make free throws and just bricked 2. Hummel stripped. 26 seconds left. 1 of 2, purdue missed, nice board. more free throws. Illini are on their way barring a catastrophe. pruitt missed. god these guys suck.
missed again. 3 pointer missed, another board, 4.7 left, hummel fouled out. They can miss a couple more free throws now, but it's over. Illini live to fight another day. Freakin scrappers man. I keep saying these guys are tough as nails; they lose ugly, win ugly, but they just don't give up many 2nd chance opportunities... they can make life hard on Indiana and own Minnesota.
