Confrence Tourny Games at Home Court So Unfair

Nowhere else can offer anything close to the classiness of the FedEx Forum.  Why should the conference tourney be in, say, Birmingham, when they don't have the seating capacity (1/3 that of Memphis) and when they lose their opening game, what seats are there would be bought up by the Memphis fans, anyway. 

The turnout for the tournament is always great in Memphis, and why not?  Beale Street is one block over, hotels are within walking distance, the town pulls out all the stops, and the fans get to watch one of the best teams in the country putting their show on display.

wwwhog is right for the most part it is not Memphis fault, it is actually the C-USA who has been scheduling the tourney on the Tigers home court and it is going to be there next year as well. Although it might not be there for a good while after next year, because we have SMU, UAB, Houston, and UTEP all in planning for renovations of some sort. I personally think it could be at the Sommit Center, that is where the Predators play and where UT is scared to play Memphis.

there are two dynamics at play here. 

Conference tournaments are typically played on the home court of one of the conference's teams.  At some point, EVERY team should have the home-court advantage.  I would think this fact would be intuitive to real college basketball fans.  I appreciate the fact the the tournament could probably be on neutral court by why would Conference USA want to pay rental fees to an arena outside of the conference.  Keep the money within the conference and share the revenues with the conference schools. 

When the other Conference USA schools renovate their facilities, the tournament will rotate to their sites and then those schools will have homecout advantage.

It's a shame CUSA was split up, because back when it was Louisville, Cincy, Marquette, Depaul, Memphis, etc., it was actually growing into a power conference. As it stands, all Memphis can do is schedule tough out of conference and win all the games they are supposed to win. They played like a 1 seed all season, and now we'll see how they do in the tournament.
